After suffering their first loss in three years, the Escambia County Middle School Eagles started another winning streak as they took down the T.R. Miller Tigers 51-20.
ECMS head coach Robert Smith said it was a good team win.
"We took a lead in the first quarter and we never looked back," Smith said. "I was able to sub my guys in and out so they stayed fresh all game. And this wore the other team down. And I was pleased with the effort out there. They did not hang their heads are the heartbreaking loss. They came back strong."
Smith said there was no great breakout star because of the way he was substituting players in and out of the game, but he said Rico Stallworth, CJ Pierce and Tocorian Brown each contributed heavily to the victory.
With the win, the Eagles got back on track and Smith said he hopes they can continue in the right direction and win the rest of their games this season. They began that attempt yesterday at the Wilcox CSAT tournament.
Smith said he would like to have a rematch against the CSAT team that handed the Eagles a loss a week ago. Other teams in the tournament included, R.C. Hatch, Tipton and Selma.
