The thermometers may have read almost freezing, but the Atmore Motocross Park still had a faithful crowd support their riders. Track owner Bobby Hadley said the weekend was another success for the park.
"It went well for our 2006 closeout race," Hadley said. "It was a cold weekend, but it was still a good end to the year."
Track promoter, Steve Hicks, also said he thought it was a good weekend out at the track.
"This past weekend cold weather and campfires were a signal the 2006 motocross season was coming to an end," Hicks said. "Racers from Alabama, Florida and Mississippi enjoyed the last race at Atmore MX Park. Most of the riders this past weekend were there to celebrate a fantastic year at the track and get that last race in before Christmas. The track will be busy the rest of December with ride and open practice days through the holidays so folks can come and try out all the new bikes and gear they will get from Santa."
The track will be open for normal hours on the weekends and like Hadley said they are working out a special time to be open for anyone who would like to practice on a new bike after Christmas.

Riders and spectators to the park in 2007 will see some additions. Hadley said the plan is to have a restroom and shower area plus a park concession stand set up by February of 2007.
Overall all involved with the track said the first full year of operation at Atmore Motocross Park was a success.
"Atmore Motocross would like to thank all the staff, sponsors, riders, local media and shops for the great support they received to help make their first complete year a success," Hicks said.
