The Concerned Citizens of Atmore strive to better Atmore by giving donations and their time to the well being of Atmore and its citizens. The group consists of several citizens whose main goal is to promote "Unity in the Community."
They recently held a catfish fry fundraiser with proceeds going to United Fund and presented the donation to board members at First National Bank.
Thursday afternoon several members of the Concerned Citizens of Atmore donated a rug to Escambia County Middle School, to be placed in the school's hospitality room.
The rug was donated by Masland Carpet and was originally intended to be donated to a local nursing home. However, certain guidelines for rugs and other carpets are in place at nursing facilities for the safety of the residents.
James McNeil, treasurer of the Concerned Citizens, said that the nursing home greatly appreciated the offer for the rug but could not use it because of the guidelines, so the rug was offered to ECMS and the principal said that the school would be glad to accept it.
