Alan Baker began his work as the District 66 State Representative on Nov. 8, 2006 hours after his election to the post.
His job has been hectic since the election and will be building speed soon as the organizational session of the Alabama Legislature convenes on Jan. 9.
"When we meet on Jan. 9 one of the items on the agenda will be to elect leaders for the House," Baker said. "There is no controversy in the House so it should be a good session."
Baker said he has already met with other officials in preparation for the upcoming session for organization.
"I've met with Seth Hammett, the current Speaker of the House, to discuss possible committee assignments," Baker said. 'I've let it be known where my interests are so we'll have to wait and see what happens during the session."
With 104 members being seated in the House for this term, there are many decisions to be made during the organizational period.
"Rules and procedures will be decided upon during the session," Baker said. "Other items such as offices, parking and committee assignments will also be decided during the session."
Baker will continue his work in the House as the general session begins in March.
