Transformer to have late delivery
Another huge delivery will make its way through Atmore tonight.
According to Bill Bridges with the Escambia County Engineering Department, the Alabama Transportation Department recently issued another permit for transportation of an "oversized" power transformer to travel through downtown Atmore to Robins Motor Transportation. The delivery will roll through town between midnight and 4 a.m. Monday morning because of its mammoth size – 13-feet, four- inches wide; 120-feet long and 16-feet, 6-inches tall, which is considerably larger than Thursday morning's load.
Bridges said the State Trooper escorted caravan will travel Hwy. 21 south and will take the same detour as the first load on Co. Rd. 30 to Co. Rd. 1 to avoid the underpass at Interstate 65.
The delivery will be completed once it reaches its destination, Tallahassee, Fla.
