The Northview Lady Chiefs season came to a close at South Walton High School Thursday night, as they lost 69-22 to Catholic High School in the first round of the FHSAA Class 2B District 1 Tournament.
"We played OK," NHS head coach Lorenzo Jones said. "But Catholic came out shooting and we couldn't keep up. It was a good game as far as the girls not quitting when they were down."
Jones said the team couldn't find the rhythm against the Lady Crusaders. But the team is now focused on getting better for next season.
"We got better this year compared to last year," Jones said. "And it is not dark anymore, we can see the light and we are going to work hard in the offseason to improve next year as well. We have a good group of girls returning and we have some good girls coming from the middle schools, so we should be all right."
Against Catholic the Lady Chiefs (6-19) were also playing hurt, Jones said. Melissa Garrett did not play in the game because she was downed by the flu bug and team scoring leader Gabe Wesley only scored one point as she battled a sprained ankle.
Timeka Marshall led the scoring with 10 points, Amber McMillan scored six points, Brittney Thompson added four points.
The loss knocked the Lady Chiefs out of the tournament and ended their season.
