It is time for seven former Atmore citizens to shine.
The ceremony for the inaugural induction class of the Atmore Area Hall of Fame was Nov. 11, but the Grand Opening of the Hall of Fame wall in the Atmore Public Library is tomorrow.
Hall of Fame committee chairman Lou Vickery would like to invite all those who want to see what the AAHOF looks like to come join the committee from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. tomorrow evening.
"We wanted to give people an opportunity to see what we have and where it is," Vickery said. "We want to let the people of Atmore know it is there. We had the ceremony, but we didn't have a place to show the people off and now we do. I would love to see as many people out there to honor the accomplishments of these seven inductees."
The seven inductees are, Robert Edward Hodnette, John M. Jones Sr., William Carl Madison, William Calvin Maxwell, Woodrow McCorvey Sr., Chief Calvin M. McGhee and Arthur Pershing "Tarzan" White.
And Vickery knows a little bit about groups of people.
"I have seen every corner of this country," he said at the induction ceremony. "And I have been every place that has 150,000 or more people and when I come back to Atmore I realize we have had some very, very outstanding talent come through here."
There will be no big reception, but Vickery said he wanted to do something to show off the Hall of Fame.
