Congressman Jo Bonner visited Atmore City Hall to address several different issues ranging from the War in Iraq to Medicare.
Bonner discussed his concerns about the Medicare program. He said that Medicare has significant gaps in it. His concern is that it does not address all of the issues of senior citizens and that it does not meet all of their needs.
Bonner also talked about concerns about credit unions operating under different rules and regulations as banks. He indicated that credit unions are moving into areas that years ago they did not operate in.
Bonner also discussed the many benefits of veterans. There are four different types of claims that veterans can file; an original claim, a claim for increase, a new claim or a reopened claim. Bonner said that he has always supported the veterans that have paid their dues.
Atmore mayor Howard Shell said that Bonner was extremely praising of the City of Atmore.
"He was very complimentary on the city," Shell said. "He was impressed with the recovery efforts after hurricanes Ivan and Dennis."
