Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born in Atmore on April 13, 1925.
Q: Who were your parents?
A: My parents were Arthur M. Sellers and Carrie Sellers. They were from the Atmore area.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: I had two brothers, Arthur Sellers Jr. and Joe Frank Sellers. They both have passed away.
Q: Where did you attend high school and college?
A: I didn't finish college but I went to school at Escambia County High School.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
A: I've been all over this world. My favorite place that I have been to was Japan. I was in the Air Force as a medical technician. I stayed in the Air Force for 20 years. I had two tours in Turkey, one in Greece and one in Japan. After that I worked with an oil company. I went to South America and stayed in Argentina for about a year. I left there and went to Australia. Then I left there and went to New Zealand and after that I retired. About the only place we didn't get to go to was Russia. I got to travel all over Europe. I stayed in Australia for about five years. I would spend 30 days over there and then 30 days back home. From Los Angeles to Sydney by jet is 17 hours and 45 minutes.
Q: What jobs have you held?
A: During the war I worked in the shipyard as a pipe welder. When I got old enough I got in to the Air Force. I retired from the Air Force and then went to work with the oil company. I had a job as a safety officer on board. After that I retired.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: I am married to Jacqueline, Jackie, Sellers. We've been married for 36 years. She is originally from Indiana. I met her while I was in service. She was working inside the hospital.
Q: Do you have any children or grandchildren?
A: I have one son and two stepsons. Michael Sellers is my son, he lives in Jasper. My stepsons are Steve Royam and Kent Royam. Steve is an attorney. He lives in Clearwater, Fla., but his office is in Tampa, Fla. Kent lives in Tampa as well. Michael has two children. We see them maybe two or three times a year. They all work so it is hard for them to come here so we try to go down there a couple times a year to visit.
Q: Where do you attend church?
A: I go to Brooks Memorial. I am a deacon there. We just built a fellowship hall that cost right at a million dollars.
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: I like to shoot pool. We play dominoes here at the SAIL Center and I like to take care of my house.
Q: What's your favorite television show?
A: I'd have to say the Western channel. But it's gotten to where, we have Direct Dish, and the movies after you watch the Western channel for a year start to repeat. My favorite Westerns are anything with John Wayne in them.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Ice cream
Q: What is the most interesting thing about you?
A: The fact that over my lifetime I've traveled so much. I have seen the world.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: To stay busy. Stay off of the couch. To do anything active, walk. I try to walk about two miles a day.
