Claudia M. Mitchem
BRATT, FLA. – Mrs. Claudia M. Mitchem, 82, of Bratt, Fla. died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in Atmore. She was a homemaker, born in Huxford on May 3, 1924 to the late Duncan and Florence Driskell Parker.
She was a member of Pine Barren Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Mitchem, a daughter, Judy Godwin Paul and a brother, Buck Parker.
Survivors are: three sons, Larry W. Godwin of Milton, Fla., Geary Godwin and Terry Godwin both of Mobile; one daughter, Jan Jeter and husband, James, of Bratt, Fla.; four step-children; Cliff Mitchem, Jr., Jim Mitchem, Timmy Mitchem, and Sandy Mitchem; one sister, Lucille Freeman of Atmore; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, March 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Grindle officiating. Interment followed in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, Fla.
Family received friends Thursday evening March 8, 2007 at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Active pallbearers were Freddy Godwin, Micky Parker, Harold Martin, Gary Bryan, Doug Ryland and Aubrey Till.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
Mossie Ellen Laws
BRATT, FLA. – Mrs. Mossie Ellen Laws, 75, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in Florence, S.C.
Mrs. Laws was a native of Tenn., a resident of Bratt, Fla. for the past 30 years, and attended the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church. Preceded in death by her husband, George Luther Laws, and a son, David Eugene Laws.
Survivors include: three sons, Roger Carl Laws of Wildwood, Fla., George Ed Laws of Camarillo, Calif., and Jimmy Ray Laws of Darlington, S.C.; two daughters, JoHanna Laws of Bratt, Fla., and Carolyn Jane Faktor of Flomaton; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony McCullough officiating.
Burial will follow at Crabtree Cemetery.
Visitation was held Saturday, March 10, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Kyle Laws, Jeremy Laws, Jonathan Laws, Ben Laws, Spencer Laws and Damien Laws.
