Monterrey's Mexican Grill owner, Angel Zavala, hopes to open his restaurant in Atmore at the end of March or beginning of April.
Zavala owns the Monterrey's Mexican Grill restaurants in Bay Minette, Andalusia, Geneva, Enterprise and Elba. He is looking forward to opening his establishment in Atmore.
"I want to try to do the best I can in Atmore with my restaurant," he said.
Zavala is unsure of the opening date because he wants to make sure the restaurant is up to standards and will be pleasing to the customers.
"It may be the end of this month or maybe the first of next month," he said. "I don't want to rush things. I want to make sure I do everything right."
The restaurant will serve authentic Mexican cuisine, such as enchiladas, tortillas, fajitas, quesadillas, tacos, flautas and burritos. They will also have salads, which include, grilled chicken salad, tossed salad, taco salad, guacamole salad and the Monterrey salad.
The children's menu at the restaurant will include Mexican cuisine along with chicken fingers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and French fries.
If the liquor license is approved, Monterrey's Mexican Grill will have margaritas, wine and also domestic and Mexican beer. Non-alcoholic beverages will include soft drinks, coffee, iced tea and orange juice.
The restaurant will have different meal specials every day.
Zavala said he wanted to open a Monterrey's Mexican Grill in Atmore so citizens of this community would not have to drive to Bay Minette to eat his food anymore.
"People from here came and ate at the Monterrey's in Bay Minette," he said. "The people love my food. They told me to come open one in Atmore. Jim Piper found me this building."
Zavala is happy to be opening Monterrey's in Atmore and wants to be sure to please his customers.
"I will do the same here as in Bay Minette," he said. "I want to make people happy with my business."
Monterrey's Mexican Grill will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. and will be located at 415 S. Main Street.
