Bonner staffer visiting Atmore
A staff member from the office of U.S. Representative Jo Bonner (R-AL) will be making two stops in Escambia County March 28.
The purpose of these visits is to meet with any constituents who may be experiencing difficulties with the government.
"I certainly hope anyone experiencing problems with the federal government will take the opportunity to come meet with my staff," Bonner said.
The representative will be available at Brewton Town Hall from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. and at Atmore City Hall from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

Escambia County's Junior Miss Scholarship Program will hold orientation April 1 at 2 p.m. at Escambia Academy Gymnasium in Canoe.

Diabetic eye care meeting Monday
Dr. Stephen Gross, optometrist, will host a diabetic eye care meeting March 20 at 6 p.m. at the Atmore Community Hospital Auditorium.
Historical Society meeting tomorrow
The Atmore Historical Society will meet March 19 at 6 p.m. at the Peavy-Webb Building in Heritage Park. The Peavy-Webb building is located on the corner of S. Main and Craig streets, directly across from St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church parsonage.
This will be the last regularly scheduled meeting before Atmore's Centennial Celebration in May. Members are urged to attend. Guests are always welcome.

The representative will be available at Brewton Town Hall from 10 a.m until 11 a.m. and at Atmore City Hall from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
First Pentecostal musician event
First Pentecostal Church will have their musician appreciation March 22-24 at 7:30 p.m. nightly.

Covenant Hospice hosting celebration
Covenant Hospice invites bereaved hospice families, as well as community members who have endured the loss of a loved one, to attend a special Remembrance Celebration at 2 p.m. March 25 at First Church of the Nazarene, located at 407 Cedar Street in East Brewton.
Covenant Hospice patients and community members who have died will be remembered and celebrated by family, friends and staff. The celebration will include music, candle lighting and selected readings. Those who plan to attend are asked to submit a photograph of their loved one to be included in a collage to stand in a place of honor during the celebration.
Covenant encourages anyone in the community who has suffered the loss of a loved one to join the non-profit organization in remembering and celebrating the lives of those who were dear to them. For more information, please call Carmen Cooper-Davis at (251) 867-6993.

County Commission meets on March 26
The Escambia County Commission will conduct an adjourned regular session March 26 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, Room 201, at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton.
The Administrative Workshop will be held March 22 at 9 a.m.
Historical Society "Show &Tell"
The Escambia County Historical Society will have a "Show &Tell" Program at its regular monthly meeting March 27 at 3:15 p.m. at the Thomas E. McMillan Museum on the Brewton campus of JDCC.
The public is invited to attend and bring an item of historical interest.
ACH Auxiliary $5 jewelry sale slated
There will be a jewelry sale by Phantasia's sponsored by Atmore Community Hospital Auxiliary in ACH's auditorium on March 29-30 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. and March 31 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted and all jewelry is $5.
Martinville Baptist Homecoming April 1
Pastor Sonny Willingham and congregation invite everyone to Homecoming on Sunday, April 1 at Martinville Baptist Church. Morning message at 11 a.m. will be followed by dinner on the grounds and an afternoon singing featuring Caleb Dennis and Friends, The Gloryland Singers and other local talent.

Reid State job fair slated for April 3
Reid State Technical College will host its inaugural job fair April 3 from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Edith A. Gary Library and Technology Center.
Potential employers from Conecuh, Butler, Escambia (Alabama and Florida), Monroe, Covington, and Wilcox counties are participating in the First Annual Job Fair on the campus of the Reid State Technical College.
Skills needed include, welders, nurses, nurse assistant, collision repairmen, office assistants, industrial electrical maintenance, carpenters, truck drivers and cosmetologists.
Companies being represented include, Kelly Services, L.V. Stabler Hospital, Sourcecorp, Hysco America, Evergreen Medical Center, UPS, Connector Mfg. Barnes' Boys gather April 21 at David's
The Barnes' Boys, Friends and Associates Gathering will be held April 21 at David's Catfish House at 12:30 p.m.
The Barnes Boys are a self-titled group of men who played football at Escambia County High School for (the late) Coach Herbert Barnes.

Nursing scholarships offered by Auxiliary
The Atmore Community Hospital Auxiliary is offering two scholarships to qualified applicants for education in a medical-related field.
Applicants may be high-school graduates or people presently working in a medical field who wish to further their education. Applications are available in the gift shop of the hospital and must be returned by April 27 to be considered.
Atmore Apostolic Fun Day April 28
Atmore Apostolic Church will host its annual Family Fun Day on April 28.
Rosdale Chorale performing April 4
The Rosdale Chorale will be in concert at Mennonite Christian Fellowship April 4 at 7 p.m.
The chorale, directed by Kenneth Miller, is a select group of 35 students from Rosedale Bible College. The program, which consists of selections ranging from the masters to contemporary is free and open to the public.

JDCC ballroom dance lessons begin in April
Jefferson Davis Community College will host ballroom dance lessons.
Beginning Social Rumba will be from March 8-April 12. Times will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Beginning Social Cha-Cha will be from March 6-April 10. Times will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
All classes will last for six weeks.

Register for softball throughout March
Girls fast pitch softball registration for Atmore Babe Ruth League will be at Elite Sporting Goods, 216 N. Main St. March 24 from 9 a.m. until noon. Birth certificates are required for first time players. Girls ages 8-16 and costs are $45.
For exercise, skill developments and just plain fun, come join us with your friends and make some new ones!
Also seeking coaches and volunteers. There will be a $10 refund to those who volunteer.
Christian Care needs your food donations
Atmore Area Christian Care gave food to 51 people last week. They are short on the following food items:
SR Meal, SR Flour, jelly, peanut butter, canned fruit, pasta- spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, chicken and dumplings, jiffy corn muffin mix
The Atmore Area Christian Care is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. until noon.

Admission is $5 per person. Children 14 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The event will feature games and food.
