There should be no cause for alarm if children are spotted walking across Main Street this Saturday morning. Those children are the representatives from the six teams in the Atmore T-Ball League and they are taking part in the Opening Day parade.
The parade will start at 9 a.m. and the parade route is from the Atmore Area YMCA and Community Center to the T-Ball fields behind Heritage Park.
Following the parade will be the Opening Day Ceremony at approximately 9:30 a.m. Festivities for Opening Day 2007 will be a prayer said by Haskell Dunn, Betty Warren taking a cut at the tee and the first pitch being thrown by a member of the Atmore community.
"I just hope for a good turnout from not only the parents of the children, but also from the Atmore community," said James Lewis, league coordinator. "And I would like to say thank you to Tammy Graham, Ross Terry and Johnny Rogers from the Y. They have been a great help in getting this season off the ground."
Those six teams will be the Blue Flames, the Eagles, the Falcons, the James Gang, the Scramblers and the Shockers. Team rosters are as follows:
