Jo Bonner awards $10,553 to Poarch
U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner (R-AL) recently awarded funding to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The grant, totaling $10,553.14, is being made available through the Homeland Security Department's Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) and will be used to acquire a thermal imager for the tribe's law enforcement division.
"I am extremely pleased this funding was approved for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians," Bonner said. "Our first responders deserve the best equipment, and I applaud DHS for providing this much-needed technology to improve their capabilities."
CEDAP provides smaller communities and rural areas with specialized commercial equipment, equipment training, and equipment technical assistance as part of a coordinated effort to strengthen the United States' overall level of preparedness. Those eligible for the funding include law enforcement agencies, fire, and other emergency responders who demonstrate the need for equipment to improve their ability and capacity to respond to a major critical incident or work with other first responders.
