Earnestine James
ATMORE – Mrs. Earnestine James, 80, of Atmore died on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
She was a native of Wilcox County and was a member of the Old Ship Baptist Church in Atmore where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the General Missionary Society and the choir.
Mrs. James was a housewife and homemaker and had been a volunteer with Head Start in Escambia County.
Survivors include: 10 daughters, Annie Marie Salter, Mary (Robert) White, Debra (Alfred) Sharp, Judy Crenshaw, and Priscilla (Willie) Harris all of Atmore, Barbara Deese and Shirley (Walter) Jones of Latham, N.Y., Peggy (Alvin) Yattaw of Owls Head, Minn., Hazel (John) Anthony of Alabaster, and Bonnie (Rodney) Striveson of Mobile; one son, Thomas Montgomery of Atmore; four sisters, Anna Powers, Mary Frances Ward and Irene Dale, all of Pensacola, Fla., and Mildred Stallworth of Cleveland, Ohio; 41 grandchildren,; 57 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Old Ship Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony McAroy officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Public viewing was held Tuesday, April 03, 2007 from 2 – 8:30 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Chapel. Her body will lie instate at the church from one hour prior to funeral services.
Turner Funeral Chapel of Atmore is directing.
Frank Bell
FLOMATON – Frank Bell, 74, a lifelong resident of Flomaton died on April 3, 2007 at Jay Hospital after an extended illness.
He was a member of the End Time Holiness Church in Molino, Fla. Bro. Bell was a minister and led a prison ministry for 15 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Frank Bell.
Survivors include: his wife, Ida Bell of Flomaton, they were married for 53 years; two daughters, Vivian Bell of Flomaton and Brenda Cox of Century, Fla.; five grandchildren, Becky Lambeth of Atmore, Rachael Meadows of Montgomery, Autumn Cox of Pensacola, Fla., Summer Simmons of Oak Grove, Fla., Michael Cox of Century, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Lambeth of Atmore, Payton and McKenna Simmons of Oak Grove, Fla.; six brothers, Shorty Bell of Flomaton, Raymond Bell "Toby" of Ariz., Harry Cofield of Jay, Fla., Billy Cofield of Molino, Fla., Bruce and Richard Cofield, both of McDavid, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Petty's Funeral Home Eastside Chapel at 2 p.m. with Bro. Jimmy Moore and Thomas Ray "Bo" Bell officiating.
Burial will be at Sardis Cemetery in Wawbeek.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2007 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Ross, Eddie Conway, Darrell Fore, Richard Odom, Ronald Carnley and Bubba Hamac.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Cofield, Harry Cofield, Richard Cofield, Billy Cofield, Benny Cofield and Tony Cofield.
Ruby Albritton Rushing
MOBILE – Mrs. Ruby Albritton Rushing, 90, of Mobile died Friday, March 30, 2007 at home.
Mrs. Rushing was a native of Atmore, but had been a resident of Mobile for the past six years and was a former resident of Pascagoula, Miss. and she attended the Sage Avenue Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Mr. Richard Rushing, three sisters, Agens Hollingsworth, Gwendolyn Irvin, Gladys Caraway, a granddaughter, Lori Foy, and a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Odom.
She is survived by: two sons, Douglas E. Odom (Carolyn) of Center, Texas, Tony Odom (Carolyn) of Mobile; two stepsons, Randy Rushing (Debbie) of Hurley, Miss., Lamar Rushing of Pascagoula, Miss.; a stepdaughter, Glenda Cox (Whitey) of Tenn.; a brother, Marion H. Albritton of Atmore; three sisters, Jean McGhee of Atmore, Edna Raines of Pensacola, Evon Kertley of Va.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel with the Rev. Carolyn Odom officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were Scott Odom, John Cormier, Darren Odom, Arthur Ray McKenzie, Jim Caraway and Ronnie Albritton.
Edward Glenn "Goullie" Caraway
ATMORE – Mr. Edward Glenn "Goullie" Caraway, 57, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2007 in Atmore.
Mr. Caraway was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore.
Survivors include: three brothers, Charles Hubert Caraway of Tensaw, Arthur Stewart Caraway of Stockton, and James A. Caraway of Atmore; three sisters, Mamie Louise Williams of Atmore, Clara Eloise Copeland of Atmore, and Mary Ada Caraway Hamby of Ovett, Miss.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Cheramie officiating.
Toby Kendall Hilton
EXCEL – Toby Kendall Hilton, 19, of Excel died Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Excel. Mr. Hilton was born in Sulphur, La. and had lived in Excel since 1988. He attended McCullough Christian Center. Mr. Hilton was a 2006 graduate of Excel High School where he played baseball and football. He worked as a machine operator for Summer Industries.
Survivors are: his mother and stepfather, Robbin and Eddie Rowell of Excel; father and stepmother, Billy and Marsha Hilton of Sicily Island, La.; brothers, T.J. Hilton and Matthew Rowell of Excel; sister, Kellie Hilton of Excel; stepbrother, Dub Willhite of Tuscon, Ariz.; stepsisters, Keri Walter and husband Marshall of Zachary, La. and Brandi Jobe of Zachary, La.; grandparents, Kenneth R. and Myra Saucer of Goodway, Bill and Beth Hilton of Leesville, La., Peggy and the late Bill Rowell of Ollie, Annie M. Jaye of Mineola.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Excel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Steve Burton officiating.
Burial will follow in Junction Cemetery on Goodway Junction.
Visitation was held Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 5 p.m. at Excel Assembly of God Church.

James A.C. Young
PENSACOLA, FLA. – Mr. James A.C. Young, 75, of Pensacola, Fla. died March 29, 2007.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery.
Joe Morris Funeral Home directing. Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
