Hydrant flushing continues Sunday
The Utilities Board will be flushing fire hydrants on April 29 and May 6 beginning at 10 p.m.
April 29 flushing will be at the northeast quadrant of town, which includes north of Nashville Avenue and east of Main Street.
May 6 flushing will be at the northwest quadrant of town, which includes north of Nashville Avenue and west of Main Street.

Readiness Program registration Friday
The Fred L. McGhee School Readiness Program (formerly Even Start) will hold registration for the upcoming school year from 8 a.m. until noon on April 27 at the Program Building.
Applicants will need to bring the following documents with them:
Children must be four years old by Sept. 1, 2007 to apply this year.

Bonner staffer will visit Atmore April 26
A staff member from the office of U.S. Representative Jo Bonner (R-AL) will be making two stops in Escambia County on Thursday, April 26. The purpose of these visits is to meet with any constituents who may be experiencing difficulties with the federal government and who are seeking the congressman's assistance in resolving these problems.
The representative will be available at Brewton Town Hall from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. and at Atmore City Hall from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
Hall of Fame meeting Thursday at Library
The Atmore Area Hall of Fame committee will meet April 26 at 4 p.m. to further discuss the nominees for this year's induction class.
The meeting will be held in the side room of the Atmore Public Library.
BOE meeting slated for Thursday afternoon
The next Escambia County Board of Education meeting is scheduled for April 26 at 4:30 p.m. at the Brewton Central Office.
HES kindergarten registration April 27
Kindergarten registration for Huxford Elementary will be April 27 from 8 a.m. until noon.
You must have the original documents of birth certificate, social security card and shot records.
"The Music Man" showing April 27-28
The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts will present Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man" April 27 and 28 at Flomaton High School. Both shows will begin at 7 p.m..
Adult tickets are $8 and children's tickets are $5. Season passes are also on sale now and include admission to "The Music Man"; a Musical Revue in July featuring past GECA productions; "Harvey" and "Into the Woods". Season passes for a family are $45 and Individual passes are $25. Student passes are $10. Tickets and passes will be available at the door or by calling Phil Johnson at (251) 368-3899.

Calvary Baptist gospel singing Friday night
Calvary Baptist Church, located at 2121 Jack Springs Road in Atmore, will present an evening of Gospel singing Friday, April 27. The event will feature Alvin Owens.

Atmore Apostolic Fun Day April 28
Atmore Apostolic Church will be hosting its third annual Family Fun Day and Auction April 28th. The day's events will begin at 7 a.m. with a large garage sale and flea market. Other booths, including sweet shop, car wash, food booths and a space jump for children will open at 10 a.m.
Food booths will feature country fried chicken, hamburgers, nachos and peanut and pecan brittle. Boston butt pork roasts will be smoked on site and sold for $25 each.
An outdoor gospel singing will begin under the trees at 11:30, featuring the country gospel voice of Jerry Day. CD's and cassettes of Day's music will be available.
The final event of the day will be an auction, featuring new and used items including an automobile, truck accessories, furniture, gift certificates and other great items.
Mass choir practice slated for April 30
Mass choir is being formed to perform at Atmore's Centennial Celebration. The choir is open to ages 16 and up. No childcare will be provided.
Practices will be held at Deliverance Ministry at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates: April 23, April 30 and May 12 for the final practice.
RPES kindergarten registration in April
Kindergarten registration for Rachel Patterson Elementary School will be held April 13 and April 26 from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Please have the following papers to register your child:
Students must be 5 years old by September 1 to enter school.
Elizabeth Baptist Church anniversary
The members of Elizabeth Baptist Church will celebrate the sixth year anniversary of Pastor and 1st Lady Dan Abner. The celebration will be April 25-27 at 7 p.m. nightly, climaxing Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m. with Bishop Willie L. Williams bringing the message.
PCI basket weaving classes begin April 26
Poarch Creek basket weaving is back by popular demand. The PCI Education Dept. will be offering beginning and intermediate basket classes to all Tribal Members, 1st generation descent, and Tribal employees (ages 9 and up). To be in the intermediate classes, you must have already taken the beginning classes.
Mvskoke Creek pottery classes are also available with the same class requirements as the basket classes.
Classes start April 26, space is limited so sign up now!

Nursing scholarships offered by Auxiliary
The Atmore Community Hospital Auxiliary is offering two scholarships to qualified applicants for education in a medical-related field.
Applicants may be high-school graduates or people presently working in a medical field who wish to further their education. Applications are available in the gift shop of the hospital and must be returned by April 27 to be considered.
ECTS Class of 1967 reunion April 29
Escambia County Training School class of "1967" class reunion meetings will be held by-weekly until further notice, our next meeting will be held at at 6 p.m. on April 29 at Edna Robinson's home located at 121 Ashley Street.

Garden Club plant sale slated April 28
The Atmore Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale April 28 from 7 a.m. until noon. The sale will be held in Juanita Smith's front lawn on South Main Street.
Penton-Mitchell families needed
In an effort to identify unmarked grave sites in the historical burial ground, the Milton Cemetery Board is attempting to locate descendants of the J.S. Penton family (early 1900s), and a Mitchell family (1914). After posting a public notice, the Cemetery can declare the empty plots "abandoned" and put them up for resale.

First Pentecostal revival April 30
First Pentecostal Church, 111 Dawes Street, will hold a revival from April 30 through May 4 at 7:30 p.m. nightly.
Everyone is invited. Speakers for the week are: Monday, Pastor Mary America; Tuesday, Evangelist Cindy Stott; Wednesday – Friday, Prophetess Lola Moore.
YoungLife Helicopter Golf Ball Drop May 5
The Atmore Area YoungLife proudly presents the inaugural Helicopter Golf Ball Drop to be May 5 at 5 p.m. This amazing event will benefit high school students in this and the surrounding communities who want to attend YoungLife Camp. Up to 500 consecutively numbered golf balls will be available for a donation of $25 each, however you may receive five golf balls for $100. These golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter hovering over a targeted hole. If your golf ball goes into the hole or is the closet to it, you will win up to $2,500!
YoungLife provides healthy, creative fun and aims to keep kids safe. From weekly clubs to seasonal camping experiences to daily outings with leaders, YoungLife is known around the world and in this community as the organization that knows how to have fun!
This year's YoungLife camp will be held at Windy Gap in North Carolina from June 9-17. This will be the "the best week of their lives" or their money back. We also ask for donations to provide these students with this opportunity of a life time.

Bryars family reunion May 5 in Perdido
The Bryars family reunion will be held at the original home place of Anthony and Elizabeth McGill Bryars at 21430 Hoyle Bryars Road in Perdido May 5 for all their descendants. Their children were Hubert, Hoyle, Carlton, Derwood, Carroll, Merle and Myrtle. All friends and relatives of the people listed are invited.

Moyeville Baptist revival May 6-10
Moyeville Baptist Church located at 10685 Upper Creek Road at the Stanley Crossroads Community near Flomaton will observe Homecoming and begin Revival Services May 6-10.
Evangelist David Sheppard of Laural, Miss. is the guest evangelist. The Master's Men Quartet will be in concert at 10:15 a.m. and then again in the afternoon on Sunday, May 6.
Service will begin Sunday morning at 10 a.m. followed by lunch and an afternoon of music. There will be no evening service on Sunday night. Revival services will continue at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Plan to come and bring some family and friends with you!

YoungLife garage sale slated for May 11-12
Atmore YoungLife will hold a garage sale from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on May 11 &12 at the old Apple Barrel building located at 326 N. Main St.
Toys, games, furniture, Christmas decorations, kitchen items (pots &pans, dishes, glasses, appliances), linens, filing cabinets and lots and lots more will be for sale.
All proceeds will go directly to benefit Atmore kids for them to go to Camp in June. Atmore Area YoungLife is a ministry to middle school and high school kids of Atmore.

Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union is still accepting monetary donations for the tornado victims in Enterprise. Donations can be made at the Atmore branch or the branches in Pensacola and Milton, Fla.

Poarch Band of Creek Indians Family Services Department is offering FREE classes to tribal members, their families and to the surrounding communities. The tribe encourages anyone with a family member who is elderly or disabled to attend.
