The Northview Lady Chiefs were not able to defend their FHSAA Class 3A District 1 Tournament title in 2007. The Lady Chiefs fell, 6-2 to Catholic April 17.
"They just outplayed us and they got the hits when they needed them," NHS head coach Stephanie Elowsky said.
The two runs for NHS came on a two-run home run by Candace Greenwell in the final inning. The Lady Chiefs managed only five hits in the game and two came in the final inning. Caitlin Spence roped a double for the other hit in the seventh inning.
Greenwell, Spence, Misty Lord, Jill Kelley and Kelly Digmon each went 1-for-3 at the plate.
NHS tried to come back, but Elowsky said it was too late.
"We tried for the comeback, but we just couldn't pull it out," she said. "We put the ball in play all day, but we hit it right to them and our bats never came alive."
