Rivercane landscape proposal awarded

It may not look like much headway is being made on the Rivercane project at Interstate 65, but there's more occurring than meets the eye.
Tuesday afternoon during a rescheduled Atmore City Council meeting due to the Memorial Day holiday, the council unanimously agreed on the low bidder for landscaping to accompany the 643-acre industrial development.
"If you remember, we had a recommendation from the Industrial Development Board back several meetings ago," mayor Howard Shell said.
The low bidder was Coston General Contractors, Inc. out of Bessemer with a base bid price of $439,606. The Industrial Development Board had allotted $500,000 in its budget for landscaping in Rivercane.
