Pepsi splits weekend games

The Atmore Babe Ruth League 16-18 Pepsi team lost its first game Saturday to the Babe Ruth team out of Covington County, 10-8. Cody Vickrey took the loss for Atmore (5-1), allowing eight runs, seven earned on 11 hits. He struck out three batters and walked none.
At the plate Elliot Faircloth went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Derek Holland, Cody Norton, Joe Drew, Eric Coley, Corey Flowers and Vickrey each scored one run apiece.
Atmore responded to a three-run inning by Covington County in the first with a four-run inning of their own, but they could not keep Covington in check in the latter innings.
Seven runs by Covington County in the final three innings gave them the win.
Holland was 2-for-4 at the plate for Atmore and Norton was 1-for-3.

Joe Drew pitched a complete game and Atmore slipped past Flomaton in the 10 a.m. game Saturday morning. Drew had 11 strikeouts and four walks, while allowing four runs, two earned on three hits.
Eric Coley led Atmore at the dish, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and one run scored. Cody Norton, Ben Hess and Hunter Miliken each got one hit on the day and Derek Holland and Norton scored two runs apiece and Elliot Faircloth scored one run.
