Get in the pool Atmore!
Both city pools are now open and ready for the area's children to enjoy the many services available to them. Tom Byrne Park Pool and Houston Avery Park Pool opened their doors May 29 and will be open until August.
"I think it is fantastic that I get to see all my pool children again," Tom Byrne Park Pool director Betty Warren said. "It is so exciting to see them every year because they have one more year of growth on them."
And over at Houston Avery the hours of operation have changed from previous years. The pool is now open for public swimming on Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. The park will be closed on Saturdays.
"The kids are so excited that the pool is open again," Houston Avery park director Cornell Torrence said. "And we changed the hours to try and take advantage of the time when the kids are not in summer school or other activities."
