Citizens driving by Johnson Ford last Friday afternoon would have heard the thumping boom of a stereo while Lewis Banks Jr. provided musical entertainment and the 93 WBLX crew out of Mobile offered a crowd-pleasing listening background.
Johnson Ford held a special event Friday with Banks and the crew from WBLX.
Jesse Taylor, Johnson Ford general sales manager, said the purpose of the celebration was to get the car company's name out in the community.
"We're trying to get acquainted with people, Taylor said. "We want to let people not only in Atmore but the surrounding communities to know what Johnson Ford is about. We want to be everybody's car store."
Banks said the afternoon was full of good tunes, along with other things.
"We did some great music and promotions," Banks said.
There was free food available for community members who came to the special event, including, hotdogs, popcorn and cold drinks.
Taylor said that if someone comes to Johnson Ford and does not find the vehicle they are looking for, Johnson Ford personnel will go through the effort of locating the precise vehicle, down to the color, for their customers.
"If we haven't got what the people want, we'll get it," Taylor said. "All they've got to do is come down here and tell us. We can get it in under three days. We've done it time and again."
Banks agreed that Johnson Ford staff will be able to find what suits customer needs in a flash.
"There are already a wide variety of cars out here at Johnson Ford," Banks said. "These guys will work hard to get people the car that they want."
Banks said 93 WBLX had not been to Johnson Ford before, but he feels as if the event Friday was a hit.
"This is the first time 93 WBLX has been at Johnson Ford but it won't be the last time," Banks said. "I think it's been a success. We've sold a couple of cars out here today."
Taylor encouraged all citizens of Atmore, as well as the surrounding communities, to come down to Johnson Ford to view their new and used cars.
"We've got a ton of '08 stuff coming in, Taylor said. "We have really got a good stock of merchandise here."
