Raymond L. Ledkins
ATMORE – Mr. Raymond L. Ledkins, 71, of Atmore died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 in Atmore. He was a retired policeman, born in Escambia County, Fla. on Aug. 13, 1936 to the late Agee and Belle Vanhoosen Ledkins.
He is preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors are, one son, Lavone Ledkins; two daughters, Susan Hamby and Helen Howard, all of Foley; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services were held Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronald Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, Fla. Family received friends Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of all arrangements.
Joe Everette "Lil Joe" Parsons Jr.
ATMORE – Mr. Joe Everette "Lil Joe" Parsons Jr., 79, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at a Mobile hospital.
Parsons was a native and former resident of Repton, and a resident of Atmore since 1966. He enjoyed working with livestock and attended the Atmore Church of Christ. Predeceased in death by his parents, Joe and Bertha H. Parson, a brother, Arthur Parsons and two sisters, Thelma Jenkins and Ruby Lowe.
Survivors include, his wife, Irene Parsons of Uriah; two daughters, Jean Parsons Sands (Joseph) of Atmore and Renie Jo Hayles (Edward) of Uriah; five grandchildren, Genna Sands Encakadc, Shelley Sands Winsor, Erica Lynn Tonney, Leslie Reid, and Joe Edward Hayles; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jewel K. Parsons of Montgomery; a sister, Ada Mixon of Atmore and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Chaplain Ann Maddox officiating.
Burial followed at Huxford Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday, July 13, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastide Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were C.J. Powell, Michael Powell, Villy Parsons, Steven Hetrick, Joey Hetrick, Allen Wells and Rick Hetrick.
J.P. Jackson Buckhalt
ATMORE – Mr. J.P. Jackson Buckhalt, 70, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mr. Buckhalt was a native of Escambia County, a former resident of Lake Charles, La., and a resident of Atmore for the past 10 years. He attended the Catholic Church and was predeceased in death by two brothers, Jessie Buckhalt and Jim Buckhalt, and two sisters, Louise Donaldson and Geraldine Booker.
Survivors include, his daughter, Connie Pearson of Poarch; three grandchildren, Kasey Boatwright, Kelli Boatwright and Kimberly Boatwright; and four sisters, Daisy Hendrix (George) of Stanley Crossroads, Rosie Roberson (Bennie) of Stanley Crossroads, Katie Barnhill (Carl) of Atmore and Quida Wall (Raymond) of Atmore.
Graveside services were held Friday, July 13, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Wild Fork Cemetery with Rev. Scott Brooks officiating.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
