Lois Irvene Jones
ATMORE – Mr. Lois Irvene Jones, 90, of Atmore died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at her residence. She was a retired seamstress with Vanity Fair Mills, born at Lookout Mountain on May 5, 1917 to the late John Henry and Mary Beatrice Tucker Myer.
She is preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Betty McGhee.
Survivors are, a daughter, Jerri Lambert of Atmore; five grandchildren, Julius Frank McGhee, Jr., Patrick Wayne McGhee, John Michael McGhee, Lisa Ann McGhee and Donna Lambert Peterson and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, July 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery with Hospice Chaplain Cindy officiating.
Family received friends, Monday, July 16, 2007 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until service time.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc is in charge of arrangements.
Louise Gaskey Gandy
GANDYVILLE, FLA. – Louise Gaskey Gandy, 91, of Gandyville, Fla. died on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at her home surrounded by family and friends.
Louise was born in Wilcox County in McWilliams on August 31, 1915 to Minnie Jean McNeil Gaskey and Will Gaskey and was one of seven children. Louise married John Lytle (J.L) Gandy of Butler County on January 5, 1933 in Evergreen and eventually the couple ended up in Gandyville, Fla. where they raised two sons, John L. Gandy and William (Bill) Haynes Gandy.
In her younger days, Louise was an owner and operator of the Gandy State Line Caf/ in Century and managed the Milky Way Restaurant in Flomaton where she was famous for creating her own special recipes for cakes, pies and breads. Louise was also ranked for several years as the top Southern Panhandle Pie and Cake Bake-Off honor recipient. Later she was secretary and bookkeeper for Gulf and Southern Transportation Company for a number of years.
J.L. and Louise were married for 72 years, and before his death, they were honored with the title of one of the town's first "Couple of the Century."
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, J.L.; grandson, Solon Lee Gandy; her mother and father; brothers, Elmer Gaskey and Bill Gaskey; sisters, Lillian Hicks and Dale Stone and a special niece, Ashley Nolan.
She is survived by, sons, John L. and wife, Faye of Flomaton and Bill and his wife, Louise of Gandyville, Fla.; sisters, Margaret Pelham of Calif., and Marian Nolan of La.; sister-in-law and best friends Elmira Gandy Crapps of Gandyville, Fla.; grandchildren, Mike Gandy (Rena) of Gandyville, Fla., Belinda Black (E.J.) of Flomaton, Haynes Gandy (Suzanne) of Pace, Fla., Tracy Gandy of Gandyville, Fla., Vicki Baggett (Garry) of Bratt, Fla., Tara Gandy of Cantonment, Fla.; step-grandchildren, Brandon Carroll (Davina) of Wawbeek and Stephanie Carroll (Brad) of Wesson, Miss. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and a special niece, Doris Gandy Chavers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her caretakers, especially Tina Brito-Stebbing.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Poplar Dell Baptist Church where she was an avid member for 67 years, with Brother Mitch Herring, pastor of Poplar Dell Baptist Church and Rev. Robert Gandy and Rev. Fred Funches officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Dell Baptist Church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Louise's grandsons, Mike Gandy, Haynes Gandy, Tracy Gandy, Garry Baggett, Brandon Carroll and Doug Dole and Lavon White. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Jace Gandy, Sawyer Gandy, Corry Baggett, Cole Gandy and Luke Gandy.
Eastside Chapel has been trusted with all the arrangements.

BAY MINETTE – Mr. Joseph Carter, Jr., 77, of Bay Minette died Monday, July 9, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Foley. Family hour was held Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Union Baptist Church. Funeral service is Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at the church. Burial will be held in Sunrise Memorial Garden in Bay Minette.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
