Smith, Coley featured today on 'Girl Talk'
Every Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. WNSI 105.9 FM in Atmore will have "Girl Talk" hosted by Atmore resident Susan Smith.
Today, Clint Smith from Garden Gallery will be talking about the right way to plant flowers, shrubs, trees, etc. Cathy Coley will also be on the show discussing how to plan the perfect wedding.

Blood Mobile will visit Sears this Saturday
The Red Cross Blood Mobile will be at Sears, located at 124 Lindberg Avenue, July 28 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sears will provide hotdogs and drinks for those who give blood during the drive. Please support your community by donating blood.

Nathan Woodward concert at FBC
Soprano and alto sax player Nathan Woodward will entertain the congregation and guests at First Baptist Church Aug. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
The event is free.

NWE Registration continues at Ernest Ward
Registration for NWE football begins July 21 and will continue July 28 at the Ernest Ward Middle School football field. Registration will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Reid State Nursing applications due July 23
Fall Semester application deadline for Practical Nursing at Reid State Technical College is July 23. Fall semester applicants for the Practical Nursing program are required to have application packets complete and in student services by July 23. A complete packet includes a nursing application, a Reid State admission application, transcripts of prior high school and college coursework, and admission test scores.

Commission meeting scheduled for July 23
The Escambia County Commission will conduct an adjourned regular session July 23 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, room 201, at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton. The Administrative Workshop will be held July 19 at 9 a.m.
ACH Goldencare to hold seminar July 25
Atmore Community Hospital GoldenCare will present a seminar on robotic surgery, July 25, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Mayson Auditorium.

Back to School Bash scheduled for July 26
The Atmore Public Library is hosting a Back To School Bash starring Rick Rakestraw and his critters. The program will begin at 10 a.m. on July 26, and is sponsored by Friends of the Library.
"Connections" meeting slated for July 26
"Connections", a newly organized ministry for families of prisoners, will meet Thursday, July 26 at the Hospitality House in Atmore. Anyone, especially older adults, who are going through long term separation from a loved one, may attend the 3 p.m. meeting or call Mildred Hall for more information at 446-7377.

Quartet come to New Home Church July 27
"The Proclaimers Quartet" of Columbus, Ga., will be in concert at the New Home Church near Monroeville on Friday, July 27. Barbeque pork and chicken plates will be served beginning at 5 p.m. at $6, which includes two vegetables and desert. Carry-outs will be available. The singing will begin at 7 p.m. and Revs. Kenneth Johnson and Thomas Smith invite everyone to attend.
New Home Church is located just north of U.S. Highway 84 East, between Repton and Monroeville.
Gospel singing July 27 at Martinville Baptist
There will be an evening of bluegrass gospel music at 7 p.m. on July 27 at Martinville Baptist Church.
Pastor Sonny Willingham and the congregation invite everyone to worship with Caleb Dennis and friends.
From Atmore, take Hwy. 21 North, go right on Martinville Loop or Martinville Circle and the church is on the right.

Father and son basketball July 28
The Concerned Citizens of Atmore will sponsor a Father and Son Basketball Game July 28 at Escambia County Middle School.
The game will begin at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium. All fathers and sons, uncles and nephews or anyone interested in playing is invited to get your hoop on.
Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for children. All proceeds will be used for ECMS school programs during the 2007-08 school year.
Christian bike rally scheduled for July 28
The Escambia County Christian Bikers will have an organizational rally and ride July 28.
The day will begin at 9 a.m. with a meet and greet at Burnt Corn Park in Brewton. The ride will start at 9:45 a.m. and there will be a lunch fellowship at 11:45 a.m. (those participating must buy their own lunch, but the event is free).

Benefit softball tourney slated July 28
There will be a benefit co-ed softball tournament held Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Bradberry Park. There will be eight teams with a $200 entry fee per team. Bring your own Core 47 balls. Inspirational Voices at Greater Mt. Triumph
Inspirational Voices, the new addition to the Greater Mt. Bratt Assembly hosts kids' crusade
Bratt Assembly of God Church will be having a kids' crusade on Aug. 1-3. It will be put on by the Paige Family. Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no cost. The church in located on Highway 4 in Bratt, Fla.

Antioch Baptist food service ends Aug. 3
Antioch Baptist Church in Freemanville will be holding a summer food service program from June 6 through Aug. 3.
Meal times will be from 11:15 a.m until 11:30 a.m. Activities include, volleyball, basketball, checkers and other games from 10 a.m. until noon.

Council on Aging selling donuts

Summer art classes will be held starting in June from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the new art gallery/studio, 106 W. Ridgeley St.

Annual Watermelon Jubilee Aug. 11-12

VFW hosts Friday night dances
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW's FREEDOM BAND. If you like good, clean and safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 West Ashley Street is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. "Pot luck" finger food and suppers are scheduled occasionally in conjunction with the dances to add to the merriment.
Remember the VFW Post in Atmore is the place to be on Friday nights.
EA registration open until classes full
Registration for the 2007-2008 school year at Escambia Academy for grades K-4 will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. until all classes are full. In order to register, one must bring an original birth certificate, Alabama immunization form and social security card. There has been no increase in tuition. Leadership Atmore looking for recruits
The Leadership Atmore Steering Committee is asking all Leadership Atmore Alumni for their help in recruiting class members for 2007-2008. Please submit names to the chamber office as soon as possible.
Accepting apps for Head Start, Pre-K
Anyone looking for Comprehensive Child Development Services for children ages 3 to 5 years old can find it at Freemanville Head Start and Freemanville Pre-K. Head Start and Pre-K are now accepting applications for 2007-08. For more information contact: Community Action Agency at 251-626-2649.
