Smith, Coley featured today on 'Girl Talk'
Every Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. WNSI 105.9 FM in Atmore will have "Girl Talk" hosted by Atmore resident Susan Smith.
Due to some technical difficulties during last week's program, the show will be a repeat of last week. Today, Clint Smith from Garden Gallery will be talking about the right way to plant flowers, shrubs, trees, etc. Cathy Coley will also be on the show discussing how to plan the perfect wedding.

ECMS new student registration Thursday
Escambia County Middle School new student registration will be held tomorrow from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. for fifth through eighth grade students.
Fifth grade orientation will be held from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Zion Star AMEZ revival Aug. 1-3
Zion Star AMEZ Church, with the Rev. Humphrey Shuford, pastor, will hold revival Aug 1-3 at 7 p.m. nightly.
Pastor Dembray Archie Limestone Faulk will be guest speaker.
Also, Aug. 5, Zion Star AMEZ will have their church anniversary starting at 3:30 p.m.
Pastor Hurdis Bozman from Goodhope Missionary will be the guest speaker.
Bratt Assembly hosts kids' crusade
Bratt Assembly of God Church will be having a kids' crusade on Aug. 1-3. It will be put on by the Paige Family. Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no cost. The church in located on Highway 4 in Bratt, Fla.

Antioch Baptist food service ends Aug. 3
Antioch Baptist Church in Freemanville will be holding a summer food service program from June 6 through Aug. 3.
Meal times will be from 11:15 a.m until 11:30 a.m. Activities include, volleyball, basketball, checkers and other games from 10 a.m. until noon.

Christ Temple Pastoral Appreciation
The Christ Temple Evangelistic Pentecostal Church, 240 Carver Ave, Atmore will hold its 26th Annual Pastoral Appreciation Services for Elder T.L. Smith and co-pastor Cynthia Smith beginning Aug. 5. Nightly services will begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon service will begin at 2 p.m. Elder Theolonias Smith and church family invites everyone to attend.
Nathan Woodward performs Aug. 5
Nathan Woodward will perform at First Baptist Church Aug. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
Woodward plays the soprano and alto saxophone. He is currently a student at The University of Mobile.
The event is free for entry. A love offering will be taken at the end of the service however, no one is required to pay to enter or to contribute to the love offering.

Meet the Teacher Day at RPES Aug. 8-9
Rachel Patterson Elementary School will be having a Meet the Teacher Day Aug. 8 beginning at 2 p.m. This will be for all first and second grade students only. Parents are welcome to bring their child to meet their teacher and deliver school supplies. August 9th is a full day for first and second grade students.
Kindergarten will Meet the Teacher Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. Parents and students will meet their teacher and deliver school supplies at this time. Kindergarten students will leave after a brief classroom visit. The first full day for kindergarten students will be Aug. 10.

First Assembly CPR classes Aug. 24
The CPR classes at Atmore First Assembly have been rescheduled to Aug. 24 from 2 until 6 p.m. and Aug. 25 from 9 am. until 1. p.m.
The following information is the same:
Each class is a stand alone session and only one session is required. The class is ideal for mothers of young children, family members caring for chronically ill people in the home and others who might need to update their certification. Council on Aging selling donuts
The Council on Aging will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts for $5 per dozen. Anyone interested in supporting this event should call 368-1032 ext. 102 or 140. Orders will be accepted until Aug. 9.
Fire Dept. hosting fun day Sept. 8
Friendship Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its annual fun day on Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a smoke Boston butt sale, live entertainment, arts and crafts, a classic car show, door prizes, bake sale and raffle prizes. We will have lots of activities for the kids along with plenty of good food including BBQ sandwiches, chicken plates, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, sausage dogs and funnel cakes. This will be a great day of fun for the entire family.
All proceeds benefit the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department. To pre-order a Boston butt, see any member of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, or contact Diana Chavers at 251-583-7258 or Judy Courtney at 251-296-2955. If you are interested in a vendor booth for the festival, or need more information regarding the festival, contact either of these individuals as well.
This event will take place at the Pollard Town Hall, off Highway 31 between Flomaton and Brewton.
VFW hosts Friday night dances
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW's FREEDOM BAND. If you like good, clean and safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 West Ashley Street is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 until 10:30 p.m. "Pot luck" finger food and suppers are scheduled occasionally in conjunction with the dances to add to the merriment.
Remember the VFW Post in Atmore is the place to be on Friday nights.
EA registration open until classes full
Registration for the 2007-2008 school year at Escambia Academy for grades K-4 will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. until all classes are full. In order to register, one must bring an original birth certificate, Alabama immunization form and social security card. There has been no increase in tuition. For additional information, call 368-2080 during registration hours or Betty Warren at 368-2322 after registration hours.
Leadership Atmore looking for recruits
The Leadership Atmore Steering Committee is asking all Leadership Atmore Alumni for their help in recruiting class members for 2007-2008. Please submit names to the chamber office as soon as possible.
New classes for Health ministry
The Atmore First Assembly of God Congregational Health Ministry announces the following classes for this quarter:
Bible Study/Weight Management
Beginning July 30 at 5:30 p.m., the Atmore First Assembly is offering a Bible Study/Weight Management class. This class will run for at least eight weeks and a fee will be charged for the cost of the book. Interested persons may contact Louise Brogden (368-2728) or Diane Lassitter (368-8669).

Senior Adult Exercise Class
The Atmore First Assembly Senior Adults Celebration Group is offering a low impact exercise class each Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. The class works on balance, flexibility and stretching. Two-pound weights needed, but are not required. They are just suggested for additional strength building.

Summer art classes offered at gallery
Summer art classes will be held starting in June from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the new art gallery/studio, 106 W. Ridgeley St.

Accepting apps for Head Start, Pre-K
Anyone looking for Comprehensive Child Development Services for children ages 3 to 5 years old can find it at Freemanville Head Start and Freemanville Pre-K. Head Start and Pre-K are now accepting applications for 2007-08. For more information contact: Community Action Agency at 251-626-2649.
Be sure to bring the following when making an application, proof of income, birth certificate, social security cards of household members, proof of insurance, current immunization record, current physical. We also accept children with disabilities.
Canoe/Robinsonville neighborhood watch
Residents in the Canoe/Robinsonville area are starting a neighborhood watch program. The first official meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Canoe Civic Center.
Concerned Citizens need uniforms
The Concerned Citizens of Atmore are asking all Atmore residents with old school uniforms to donate them to the group. The Annual School Uniform Recycle is taking place now.
All uniforms are laundered and given back to the community. For more information call Sandra Gray at 368-6023.
