Alana Burgess
JAY, Fla. – Infant Alana Burgess passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 in Pensacola, Fla.
Survivors include, parents, Joshua Burgess and Kim Stinson both of Jay, Fla.; grandparents, Greg and Suzy Odom of Jay, Fla. and Brad Burgess of Charenton, La.; great grandparents, Roy and Agnes Odom of Flomaton, and Leroy Burgess of Charenton, La; five aunts, Crystal Ragsdale of Gauier, Miss; Kasey Heron of Gulfport, Miss; Amber Odom of Jay, Fla.; Haley Odom of Jay, Fla.; and Heather Patterson of Jay, Fla.; and one uncle, Anthony Stinson of Jay, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug, 19, 2007 at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Earle Green and the Rev. Robert Gandy officiating.
Burial followed at Sardis cemetery.
Michael Anthony Byrd
CENTURY, Fla. – Mr. Michael Anthony Byrd, 48, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 in Century, Fla.
Mr. Byrd was a native of Charleston, W. Va., a former resident of Pensacola, Fla., a resident of Pace, Fla., for the past 15 years, and attended the Baptist Church.
Mr. Byrd's mother, Opal Mae Byrd and three brothers, Robert Byrd, Ronald Byrd and Johnnie Byrd each preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his father, Julius Byrd of Pace, Fla.; two brothers, Steve Byrd of Guayaquil, Ecuador and Jr. Byrd of Mooresville, N.C.; and two sisters, Karen Barlow of Pace, Fla. and Faith Oglesbee of Flomaton.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 at the Flomaton cemetery with the Rev. Willie Oglesbee officiating.
Clifford Glenn White
ATMORE – Mr. Clifford Glenn White, 72 of Atmore, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 at his residence. He was a construction superintendent of Blount Brothers, born in Baldwin County, on Aug. 6, 1935 to the late John McLeod and Bessie Roberts White. He was a veteran with the Air Force and a member of Little Escambia Baptist Church.
One sister, MaBeth Styron, and one brother, Benny White, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Martha White, two sons, Randy Glen White, Robert Keith White (Alice) all of Atmore, two sisters, Mary Barber and Alice Triplett both of Atmore, two grandchildren, David (Heather) White and Mark White.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday Aug. 22, 2007 at Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Douglas Hogg and Bro. Fred White officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.
Family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 21, 2007 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Joe "Junebug" Roley
BRATT, Fla. – Mr. Joe "Junebug" Roley, 62, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 in Bratt, Fla.
Mr. Roley was a native and lifelong resident of Bratt, Fla. and retired from Whitesell-Green Inc. after 34 years. His parents, Joe and Anna Mae Roley, a brother, Donald Roley, a granddaughter, Tawakia Bell, and a niece, Debbie Hayes preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 41 years, Linda Roley of Bratt, Fla.; three sons, Joey Roley III, Gary Roley, and Donald "Slick" (Heather) Roley, all of Bratt, Fla.; two daughters Marty (Greg) Green of McDavid. Fla. and Michelle McCurdy of Bratt, Fla. 7 grandchildren, two brothers, Jim (Mickey) Roley, and David (Pam) Roley, all of Bratt, Fla.; three sisters, Mary (Sid) Gordon of Jacksonville, Fla.; Helen (Robert) Flint of Elberta; Ann (Roy) Lowery of Bratt, Fla. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at his home with Lisa Kelley – Reed officiating.
Burial followed at Godwin cemetery.
Visitation was held at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 until funeral time at his home.
Pallbearers were John Roley, Kenneth Roley, Bo McGhee, Ryan Stabler, Terry Sargeant and Bobby Robertson.
Lola Williams
ATMORE – Mrs. Lola Williams Banks, 93, of Atmore died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007 at Atmore Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday Aug. 22, 2007 at Liberty Baptist Church, burial will follow at Fairview cemetery.
Rosa Bell Whitehead
ATMORE – Mrs. Rosa Belle Whitehead 74, of Atmore, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at her residence. She was retired from Brook Food Center in customer services. Born in Escambia County on Nov. 16, 1932 to the late Sydney Warren and Bama Parker Brooks Sr. Mrs. Whitehead was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore, member of John Smith Sunday school class, and also a member of W.M.U. and other communities at the First Baptist Church.
Her husband, Jim McKinley and one brother, Bully Brooks each preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her husband, William Robert Ray Whitehead of Atmore; six sons, Eddie McKinley of Atmore; David McKinley of Trussville; Danny McKinley of Atmore; Brooks Whitehead of Atmore; Mike Whitehead of Blakely, Ga.; and Billy Whitehead of Troy; one daughter, Deborah Proctor of Spring Field, Tenn.; two brothers, Warren Brooks and Frank Brooks both of Montgomery; two sisters, Maxine Godwin of Bratt Fla. and Ann Brown of Gulf Breeze Fla.; a sister – in – law, Georgia Brooks of Atmore; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Atmore with the Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jamie McKinley, Jeremy McKinley, Harrison Whitehead, Brandon Whitehead, Taylor Whitehead and Adam Mclntyre. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Spence, Chuck Brooks, Kevin Brooks, Mark Brown, Richard Brooks and Scott Brooks.
Family will receive friends, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Atmore.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Comfort Care Hospice, 722 Douglas Ave. Brewton, Ala. 36426.
Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Texanna Andrews Mack
YUMA, Ariz. – Texanna Andrews Mack was born June 28, 1930 to James Franklin Andrews and Ruth Agnus Dyal Andrews, and passed from this life on Aug. 11, 2007.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Elisha Mack and two brothers, Harold Andrews and Bub Andrews.
She is predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Andrews Coon.
Texanna had four children, Kathy Mack Jensen, Wayne Mack, Phillip Mack and Fran Mack Williamson, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She passed away in her hometown of Yuma, Ariz. and was interred in the National Memorial Veterans' Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz.
Lola Williams Banks
ATMORE – Mrs. Lola W. Banks departed this earth to be with her heavenly Father on Aug. 15, 2007. She was born Jan. 6, 1913 in Monroe Co. to John Arthur and Lille Bell Williams. To this union six children were born; three brothers, Frank Williams, Ellis Williams and Glennie Williams; and two sisters, Ruby Rotschild and Mammie Williams.
Lola married Raymond Banks and to this union seven children were born; Geneva Banks, Janis Banks, Minnie Banks, Gladys Banks, Raymond Banks Jr. and Berone Banks. One daughter preceded her in death, Ruby Lee Flowers.
Lola and Raymond moved to Freemanville and joined Mt. Gillard Baptist Church. She had three stepdaughters; Otis Marie, Betty Hooks and Bobbie Riley, 26 grandchildren and a host of great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held Aug. 22, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Lucius Fair, officiating.
