ECMPS parent/PTO meeting tomorrow
The Escambia County Middle Preparatory School Parent Involvement/PTO meeting will be held Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Smart Links begins tomorrow at ECMS
The Smart Links Fall Program will begin Aug. 27 for Escambia County students in grades K-8. Smart Links will be held at Escambia County Middle School Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Registration forms are available at Escambia County Middle School, A.C. Moore Elementary School and Rachel Patterson Elementary School. Academic enrichment, homework assistance, recreation, art and piano lessons will be offered.
There is a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $25 per child. Daily snacks will be provided by the Child Nutrition Program.

Church convention concludes today
Faith Pentecostal Church, Inc. will hold its Annual Church Convention from Aug. 22-24 at 7:30 p.m. nightly, climaxing on Aug. 26 at noon.
2nd Mt. Triumph hosts homecoming
The 2nd Mt. Triumph Baptist Church will host a homecoming and revival beginning Aug. 26 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Freddy Banks.
The evangelist for the week of Aug. 27-31 is the Rev. Nathaniel Dortch of St. James Baptist Church in Mobile. The night services begin at 7:30.

Memorial service for Jerry Douglas
There will be a Memorial Service for Jerry Douglas Murph, son of Artis Murph Sr. and Mattie Lou Murph Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Atmore.
Survivors include, Martha Murph Bell, Ferrell Murph and Sara Murph Davis.
Smarts Steps training for parents at ECMS
Hope Place Family Resource Center presents Smarts Steps, Interactive-Hands-on Training for Parents at Escambia County Middle School on Wednesdays, beginning Aug. 29 at 11 a.m.
The sessions will be one hour long for six weeks. Lunch is provided for participants.

American Legion selling Boston butts
The American Legion will be selling a variety of items for Labor Day on Aug. 31 beginning at 10 a.m.
Whole Boston butts will be sold for $25, barbeque plates will be sold for $6 and barbeque pork sandwiches and chips will be sold for $3. Those with tickets can come to the event from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. and walk-ins are welcome after 11:45 a.m. as supplies last.
Ticket deadline will be Aug. 27.

New Home Church holds revival
New Home Church's Fourth Annual Native American revival will be held from Aug. 31-Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. nightly. The location is 1209 Poarch Rd. in Atmore.

Atmore Library kicks off Wee Ones Program
The Atmore Public Library will be starting the Wee Ones Program on Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. Wee Ones follows the school year calendar.
Legion hosts line dancing classes
Beginner country line dance classes start Sept. 6 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall at the intersection of Main and Church streets. The advance class is from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. For more information, call 368-8843 or 368-5769.
Ebenezer Lutheran 81st anniversary party
Ebenezer Lutheran Church invites all congregations to come and join them as they celebrate the joyous occasion of their 81st church anniversary and mortgage burning ceremony Sept. 9.
These special services will take place at 3 p.m. and the church is asking all choirs to bless the service with an A &B selection.
The theme will be "In Ages Past, Present, and Future" and the theme scripture is Hebrews 12:1. The church looks forward with great anticipation to all congregations attendance and joining them in this high praise and thanksgiving to our Saviour Jesus Christ the Lord.
Community of Christ hosts homecoming
The Community of Christ Church in Huxford will hold its annual homecoming Sept. 9. Singing will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Betty Dixon, the mission president, will be the guest speaker at our 11 a.m. service.
A basket lunch will be served at noon. Every one is welcome to attend.
Bratt Assembly hosts revival Sept. 16-23
Bratt Assembly of God Church will have Revival September 16-23. It will start at 7 p.m. on the weekdays and at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Evangelist Lowell Haynes will be the guest speaker.
GED given at Reid State Sept. 26-27
The GED test at Reid State will be held Sept. 26-27. The four parts (Writing/Essay, Social Studies, Science and Reading) of the GED test will be given.
All applicants must pre-register for the GED test. Registration is Sept. 24-25 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Building #100.
The GED test will be given Sept. 26-27 in Building #100. Applicants need to bring a picture ID and social security card.

The Lassiter and Wall Family reunion will be held at Little River State park at 11 p.m. Oct. 6. Bring lawn chairs.

Blood drive slated for Oct. 11 at City Hall
The Atmore Fire Department and the American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive Oct. 11 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. The blood drive will be held in Atmore City Hall in the auditorium.
All donors will receive a free T-shirt and two weeks of free tanning at Club Sun.
Enter to win a two night Mountain Resort stay with golf and food vouchers and a one-month tanning package courtesy of Club Sun.

Youth Leadership looking for recruits
Youth Leadership Atmore is recruiting class members for 2007-08. Please submit applications to the chamber office as soon as possible. Applications can be found at the Chamber office or in each high school's office. Deadline for applications is Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. in the Chamber office.
