Latino thanks paper, reporter
Thanks to the Atmore Advance and Adrienne McKenzie in particular, for the interest shown in "Your Gift To Me", the novel I have co-authored, which is entered in a national contest that could lead to a publishing contract with Simon &Schuster.
I had a lot of fun with Adrienne during our time together last week in my home, but I think I prefer being the interviewer rather than the interviewee! I also appreciated that Adrienne made time out of her busy schedule as a journalist to go online to read and rate the first chapter of "Your Gift To Me." Atmore Advance political columnist, Tray Smith, also voted from his room in the Congressional page dormitory in Washington, D.C.
The individuals and groups in Atmore who are attempting to help make my dream come true have truly amazed me. Curt Beck has been so insistent that his ECHS former classmates support this project, I fear he will have to join the witness protection program before voting ends on Oct. 8.
Because of Atmore's interest, I wanted to provide a contest update. Round one of the competition ended last night at midnight. As one of the Top 25 semifinalists, out of nearly 300 manuscripts, "Your Gift To Me" will compete in the final round of competition, beginning Sept. 24. At that time, semifinalists will post their second chapters of their manuscripts on line for people to read and rate.
If any organization in Atmore requires a guest speaker in the days prior to Oct. 8 when voting concludes, I'll be happy to speak about the state of and new trends in America's publishing industry, as well as the storyline of Your Gift To Me as it relates to Williams Station.
Sincere thanks to the citizens of the Atmore area for your effort and perseverance on behalf of "Your Gift To Me."
