Vikki Day has stayed busy throughout the past month with the many projects at her new gallery located at 106 W. Ridgeley Street.
The Day Gallery has different antiques, paintings, quilts and sculptures.
"We have new art and antique art," Day said. "We always have a few antiques in here. We have unusual and rare books for book lovers. We have one, two or three artists every month showing off their artwork."
Along with the many items on display at the Day Gallery, there are also fun gatherings for Atmore residents.
There is a monthly gallery night, which features different artists from throughout the United States. The next Day Gallery Art and Wines will highlight artist Gi Gi Hackford formerly of New York and California and currently Daphne. Hackford is an innovative and versatile artist who can be commissioned to paint pet portraits. Also highlighted will be Suzanne Ens of Pensacola, Fla. She has mosaic art and design with her husband Row, who is an acrylic impressionist artist.
The monthly gallery night is the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
The Day Gallery will also have events on Saturdays throughout October. On Oct. 6, individuals may paint a pottery piece with a floral design and receive 10 percent off. Those who paint a bowl will get crispy treat surprises. On Oct. 13 is "tea time," individuals can paint a tea pot set or a cup set and receive a complementary box of tea. October 20 is a day of "critter surprises." Individuals can paint one of the featured items and receive one free treasure to place inside to surprise friends.
Also, birthday parties can take place at the Day Gallery. Reservations can be made for children ages 4-13.
Children's fall paintings with Day are Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Children can get step-by-step demonstrations on how easy it is to paint. The cost is $60, which includes all materials.
Children aren't the only ones who can learn at Day Gallery. On Oct. 10, 17 and 24, classes for adults are available from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The cost for this class is $70, which includes all materials.
There are many other classes and fun activities provided at the Day Gallery. There will be a gingerbread competition for adults and children. The winner of the competition will have their product displayed in the window at the Day Gallery in November.
Day is thrilled to have art on display along with having a learning process going on in the back of the facility.
"It's a great place," Day said. "I like how it's divided up and the teaching goes on in the back. I'm delighted that Garden Gallery is opening up. We will work great together during gallery night."
The Day Gallery is open Wednesday-Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.
