With a win Friday night in Vernon, Fla. the Northview Chiefs could wrap up their third straight district championship.
"If we want to be district champs again, we have to take care of business Friday," NHS head coach Cody Keene said. "Vernon is a good team and they are very capable of beating us if we play how we can."
Keene is using a certain score from earlier this season to motivate his team at practice.
"We keep telling them 35-0," Keene said. "That is how bad we lost last time we went on the road to Walton and we don't want to do that again this week on the road."
The senior Chiefs also have another tidbit to chew on before the game Friday, they have never defeated Vernon in their four years at NHS. As freshmen, they lost 42-18 and as sophomores, they lost 39-0 in the playoffs.
Keene said if his guys can execute better and cut down on the penalties, the Chiefs should have a great chance to win the district, but if they don't, Vernon will take them down.
Kickoff is set for Friday at 7 p.m. in Vernon, Fla.
