Nancy Ella Kelly Dailey
ATMORE – Mrs. Nancy Ella Kelly Dailey was born on Jan. 28, 1994 in Greenville to the late Mr. James Kelly and the Late Mrs. Eula Francis Johnson Frye.
Her parents, and two sons, Paul Dailey Jr. and Jonathon Dailey preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted step-father, Mr. James Frye Sr. She was married to Paul Dailey Sr. and to his union five children were born, Debra (Daryl) Mosby, Jeffrey (Sheila) Dailey of N.C.; Mary Joyce Dailey of Mobile; and Eric Dailey of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Frank (Lela) Jones of Ashburell, N.C.; Kenneth (Gaydella) Jones, Vincent (Peggy) Jones of Atmore; and James (Donna) Frye of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Bonita (James) McCants, Sandra (William) Bogan, and Tammy (Gregory) McCants all of Atmore; a devoted friend Mr. James Williams, special friends, Mr. George Mosby, Mrs. Farrell of Escambia County Social Services and Peggy Jo Ballard, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at the Gaines Chapel AME Church with Rev. Tony McAroy officiating.
Interment followed in Fairview cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers were family and friends.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Eunice Sybil Etheridge
PERDIDO – Ms. Eunice Sybil Etheridge, 84, of Perdido died Oct. 28, 2007 at her residence. Ms. Etheridge was a member of the Perdido Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress from at the Vanity Fair Mills. Born in 1923 to the late Charles Lawson Bryars and Allie Parker Bryars.
Her husband, William E. Etheridge Jr. and one daughter, Patricia Gail Richburg, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, one son, William "Pee Wee" (Brenda) Etheridge of Navarre, Fla.; six grandchildren, James Jason, Sybil, Joleen, Molly, Shelly Etheridge, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Pastelle Maholovich of Perdido.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at the Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Bryars – McGill cemetery in Perdido. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service time Thursday, Nov.1, 2007 at the Funeral Home.
Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Dorothy Hasselbrock Morris
MOLINO, Fla. – Mrs. Dorothy Hasselbrock Morris, 87, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 at her residence.
Mrs. Morris was a native of Molino, Fla. and a resident for the past 60 years. She was retired from St. Regis Bag Plant after 35 years of service. Her husband, Leslie Morris preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her son, Larry Morris of McDavid, Fla.; daughter Linda Fay Ard of McDavid, Fla.; four brothers, Herman Hassebrock, of Bratt, Fla.; Johnny Hassebrock of Cottage Hill; Harry Hassebrock of Pensacola, Fla.; Edwin Hassebrock of El Cajon, Calif.; three sisters, Eleanor Conover of Pensacola, Fla.; Connie Gooden of Cantonment, Fla.; Anne Jernigan of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Byron Ard of McDavid, Fla.; Tonie Bellanger of McDavid, Fla.; Julie Kimmons of Milton, Fla.; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 at the Petty – Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Fil Enfinger officiating.
Burial followed at Ray's Chapel cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at the Petty – Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Carlos "Ted" Hassebrock, Bennie Hassebrock, Byron Ard, Johnny Morris, Ronnie Morris and Stoney Kelly.
Clyde J. Simmons
BYRNEVILLE – Mr. Clyde J. Simmons, 53, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007 at a Pensacola hospital.
Mr. Simmons was a native of Century, Fla. and a resident of Byrneville, Fla. for most of his life He was an employee of Smith Tractor Company for 27 years and attended the baptist church.
His parents, Charlie and Verna Mae Darby Simmons, two brothers, Billy Simmons, and Wade Simmons, grandparents, Thomas and Ada Darby, and Steven and Jess Simmons, and a loving niece Edna Dawn Findley Gafford all preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Mindy (Stevie) Lashley of Byrneville, Fla.; a brother David Simmons of Jay, Fla.; and three sisters, Brenda Wiggins of McDavid, Fla.; Linda Findley of Byrneville, Fla.; and Patsy Harrington of Patterson, La.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at the Petty – Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Alvin Coe officiating.
Burial will follow at Cora cemetery.
Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m until 9 p.m. at the Petty – Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Todd Watson, Michael Hagan, David Engle, Brandon Kilpatrick, Michael Thomas, and Ronnie Hawthorne.
Honorary pallbearers will be W.L. Smith Jr., Ricky Smith, Scotty Smith, Jimmy Jones, Ron Hughes, and Dean Killam.
John Thomas Smith
ATMORE – John Thomas Smith, 87, also known as "Swifty", "Uncle John" and "PaPa passed peacefully after complications from a sudden illness, surrounded by his loving family on Oct. 29, 2007.
John was born in Uriah and grew up in the nearby areas of Frisco City and McGargal. He lived in Atmore a number of years. He was a hardworking man all of his life. He was a long time employee of American Cresote Company in Pensacola, Fla.; where he was a mill operator until the mid 1970s.
His parents, Robert and Cora Smith, his wife, Genette Smith, along with three sons, Carl, Terry, and Wayne Smith all preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his sons, Buford Smith of Pensacola, Fla.; and Gary Smith of Hollywood, Fla.; several daughters, Glenda Guidy, Brenda Coleman, Linda Hayden, Deborah Varnedoe and Teresa Eagerton all of Pensacola, Fla.; and Patricia Fails of Atmore; four sisters, Lizzie Mae Ward, Lucille Lynch (Missy), Mary Mattson (Euleen) and Rosie Jean, twenty two grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, many other special family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North Cantonment with Pastor Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill cemetery in Atmore.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Davis, Joe Coleman, B.J. Smith, Bryan Williams, Bill Varnedoe, Hal Frazier, Aaron Varnedoe, and Burt Pilon.
