The Escambia Academy Cougars could not do much about the fast break attack of the Faith Academy Rams. Faith jumped out to an early 15-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back, taking the Cougars down, 64-12.
The best quarter of play for the Cougars came in the third quarter where the Rams only outscored them 9-4, but in the rest of the game the score was 55-8 in favor of the Class AAA Rams.
The Faith squad showed no mercy to the Class AA Cougars. The EA offense could not get going and the Faith offense did not stop scoring until the final buzzer, scoring the final points of the game with less than 10 seconds to go in the game.
Sophomore Tank Mitchell led the Cougars with four points. James White added three points. Michael Hippa and senior Tyler Harrison had two points apiece and Blake Kirk added one point.
EA head coach Kevin Woods had no comment following the loss.
The Cougars next game is Monday on the road against Cottage Hill. Play begins at 4 p.m. with the JV boys' game and the varsity boys will follow that game.
