John Gladen Gibson
McDAVID, Fla. – John Gladen Gibson was born on June 20, 1933 and passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at the age of 74. Mr. Gibson was a faithful member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ for 45 years, serving faithfully as an elder for the last several years.
His parents, Jesse and Clara Gibson; three sisters, Mildred Howell, Clinnie Gibson and Adelle Lisenby; two brothers, David Gibson and Herman Gibson and one grandson, Michael Baker, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his beloved wife of 50 years, Wilma Gibson of McDavid, Fla.; two sisters, Bertie Miller of Brewton and Clara Mae Gonzalez of Pensacola, Fla.; five children, Randy (Judy) Baker of Oak Grove, John (Janet) Gibson of Athens, Bryan (Lynn) Gibson of Prattsville, Laura Gibson of Atmore and Melanie (Marc) Hinds of Texarkana, Texas; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2007 from the Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Randolph. Visitation started two hours before service.
Pallbearers were Ted Bridges, Jake Gibson, Kyle Gibson, Jesse Gibson, John Marc Hinds and Chad Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Oak Grove Church of Christ.
Sarah Margaret Stewart
ATMORE – Mrs. Sarah Margaret Stewart, 62, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at a Pensacola, Fla. hospital.
Mrs. Stewart was a native of Flomaton, a former resident of Bratt, Fla. and a resident of Atmore for the past 30 years. She retired from Buster's restaurant after 30 years. She was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and attended Unity Baptist Church.
Her parents, Leona and Curtis Singleton; two brothers, Johnny McCaw and Douglas Evans and two sisters, Joyce Ann Linam and Virginia Godeaux all preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her husband, Woodrow "Woody" Stewart of Atmore; three daughters, Diane (Bruce) Pike of San Antonio, Texas, Donna (Joey) Garner of Pascagoula, Miss. and Kelly (Jim) Essler of Bay Minette; four grandchildren, Nathan Naranjo, U.S.M.C. of San Diego, Calif., Eric Essler and Erika Essler, both of Bay Minette and Kayla Kresta of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Gary Evans of Atmore and a sister, Darlene (Jerry) Strength of Flomaton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 5, 2007 at Petty – Eastside Chapel Funeral home with the Rev. Richard Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Rigby cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty – Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Leo Amerson, Tommy Abrams, Boyd Sigafoose, Randolph Lambert, Rex Baggett and Leonard Purvis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sgt. J.C. Mitchell and Thomas Qualls.
Orange (Leel) America
ATMORE – Mr. Orange (Leel) America, 43, of Atmore, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at U.A.B hospital in Birmingham.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home will be directing.
