Christmas play slated for tonight
McCullough Christian Center Kingdom Seekers Kids Church presents "A Miracle On Main Street" today at 6 p.m.

Grace youth prep Christmas meal
Grace Fellowship's youth group will make meals on Christmas Day for the elderly or for anyone who will be alone on the holiday. The youth will either deliver the meals to homes, individuals can pick up their meals or people can eat their meals on location. All meals will be free.Please reserve meals by Dec. 21.

Trinity Church holds "Lessons of Carols"
To celebrate the season of Advent, Trinity Episcopal Church will host an evening of "Lessons of Carols" at 7 p.m. on Dec. 18.
Light refreshments will be served afterwards in the Parish Hall. Trinity is located at 202 S. Carney Street behind Bondurant Hardware.
Utilities Board meeting scheduled
The Utilities Board monthly board meeting will be held on Dec. 19 at 8 a.m. at the Waste Water Treatment Plant office.
Change of Mind host Christmas party
Change of Mind Inc. Children Outreach Ministry, located at 8580 Hwy. 31 in Atmore will be having a Christmas party and gift giving, touching the lives of children on Dec. 22 at 4 p.m. All are welcome. Gifts are given until all have been given out.
Trinity holds Children's Pageant

Church hosts candlelight service

New Pleasant Hill hosts fifth Sunday
Atmore Sunday school at Study next fifth Sunday fellowship at New Pleasant Hill Church with the Rev. Harold Askew as pastor will be held Dec. 30. Sunday school will be at 9:45 a.m. and worship service will be at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
ECHS booster club meeting on Jan. 8
The next Escambia County High School Booster Club meeting will be held on Jan. 8, 2008 at 7 p.m. at David's Catfish.

A meeting for the Ernest Ward High School Class of 1978 will be held on Jan. 11, 2008 at Bratt Elementary School at 5 p.m.

New Home Church hosts concert
"The Revelators," "Grateful Heart," "New Direction," "Southern Gospel Believers" and others will be in concert at the New Home Church near Monroeville on Dec. 28, from 7 p.m. until. Refreshments will be served and a love offering will be received, but there will be no charge for admission. Revs. Kenneth Johnson and Thomas Smith invite everyone to attend.
New Home Church is located between Repton and Monroeville just north of U.S. Hwy. 84.
Junior Auxiliary group meetings scheduled
The monthly meeting of the American Legion JUNIOR Auxiliary is held on the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Second Floor Activity Room of the American Legion. Any eligible girl under 18 years of age is welcome.
Parents may contact Mary Stanley at 368-5769 to check eligibility or come to the meeting as scheduled.
Atmore Lions looking for new members
The Atmore Lions Club meets the first and third Wednesday for lunch each month at the Atmore Community Hospital. All interested in joining the club are welcome to attend.
Atmore Church of God starting clubs
The Atmore Church of God is starting a Boys Club and a Girls Club. Ages will range from 5 years through 16 years of age. They are inviting all boys and girls to join the club and enjoy the activities. If you are interested and need further information contact Pastor Glenn Bryars on Wednesday evening or Sunday morning or evening at the Atmore Church of God located at 90 Jack Springs Road in Atmore.
Legion meetings second Tuesdays
American Legion meeting is held the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the American Legion building.

Friday night dances at VFW open to public
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW's Freedom Band. If you like good, clean, safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 W. Ashley Street is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
"Pot luck" finger food and suppers are scheduled occasionally in conjunction with the dances to add to the merriment. Remember the VFW Post in Atmore is the place to be on Friday nights.

ECHS students offer peers help in courses
Escambia County High School students who have not passed the graduation exam will take the test again in December.Those students have the opportunity for tutoring at the high school Monday through Thursday, both during and after school. Students can receive assistance in science, math, social studies, English and reading.
Student tutors are working the program and students who need assistance will receive individualized assistance. The priority of the program is to help those who need to pass the graduation exam, although students who are having difficulties in their courses may also be tutored. Several teachers on staff at ECHS are familiar with the requirements of what the students need to pass the graduation exam and are helping with the program.
