(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights 73-year-old Lawrence Heathcock. Heathcock wishes a Merry Christmas to everyone this holiday season.)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born in Perdido on Sept. 29, 1934.
Q: Who were your parents?
A: John Chesley Heathcock and Lavada Levins Heathcock.
Q: Where were they from?
A: Perdido.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: I have three brothers and three sisters.
Q: What are their names?
A: Mary Hicks, Leonard Heathcock, Lois Spence, Curtis Heathcock, Helen Fretwell Stewart and Harold Fretwell.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: Perdido.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
A: Not much. I travel with the seniors here at Poarch.
Q: Where all have you visited?
A: Washington, New York and Niagara Falls.
Q: What jobs have you held?
A: Welding, construction. I retired from Jefferson Davis Community College as a welding instructor.
Q: How long did you work there?
A: Thirteen and a half years.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: Yes.
Q: What's your wife's name?
A: Margie.
Q: How long have you been married?
A: 54 years.
Q: Do you have any children?
A: Two daughters.
Q: What are their names?
A: Brenda Mustin and Sheila McDowell.
Q: Where do they live?
A: They both live in Perdido.
Q: Do you have any grandchildren?
A: Three.
Q: What are their names?
A: Matthew Hayles, Rachel Hayles and Marissa Mustin.
We have three great grandchildren.
Q: Where do you attend church?
A: Saraland; United Pentecostal.
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: Building a new house and working in my shop. We do mobile home rentals too.
Q: What's your favorite food?
A: Yum Yum dessert and good lima beans.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: Don't smoke and stay active.
Q: Is there any message you'd like to send your friends?
