The Atmore Motocross Park welcomed riders, spectators and Outlaw Santa to the park last weekend for the second round of the Big Chill Series Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend was an enjoyable way to spend a chilly December weekend, track promoter Steve Hicks said.
"This weekend was the finale of a very successful 2007 race season," Hicks said. "We also had a Christmas celebration with a very laidback, enjoyable race. The year is full of high-stakes races with qualifiers and nationals, so it was good to finish the season among friends and family letting the kids do what they enjoy."
Appropriately named the Big Chill Series, but 140 riders still braved the cool temperatures for a day at the track.
"The riders took on the cold weather conditions on a remodeled track that cut lap times by about seven seconds," Hicks said. "All the riders seemed to like the improvements and changes."
Hicks said Kenny's Motorsports of Brewton and D&D KTM of Pensacola were on hand to support the riders and show off their 2008 model bikes and equipment.
The Atmore MX Park will take the month of January off, but will resume the racing Feb. 9-10 with a race weekend.
