Chester Lee Edwards
ATMORE – Mr. Chester Lee Edwards, 85, passed away on Thursday, Dec 20, 2007 in Atmore.
Mr. Edwards was a native of Jemison, a former resident of Willmington, OH and a resident of Atmore for the past 28 years. He was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army, a member of the VFW Post #716, he had a Masonic Lodge 50 year pin and attended the Baptist Church.
His daughter, Debbie Strickland, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his wife Eugenia Edwards of Atmore; his son Chester Lee "Chet" Edwards Jr. of Sommerset, KY; his stepson, Michael Lawley of Lillian; his daughter, Diane and Mike Ewing of Willmington, OH; his stepdaughter, Diane Locke of Bakersville, Calif.; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec.22, 2007 at the Mars Hill cemetery in Jemison with Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
James Leonard Harrison
ATMORE – Mr. James Leonard Harrison, 78, of Atmore died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at his residence. He was a retired farmer, born in Summerdale on March 14, 1929 to the late Robert Edward and Ida Mae Avera Harrison.
His parents; a brother, Robert Edward Harrison Jr. and a brother in law, Roy Moore, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his wife Lorraine Galloway Harrison; three sons, Jimmy Harrison (Julia), Wayne Harrison (Barbara) and Dale Harrison, all of Atmore; three sisters, Ruth Moore of Leedey, Okla., Eulala Bauer (John) of Smarr, Ga. and Violet Joyner (Albert) of Mobile; sister in law, Bernice Harrison of Atmore; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec.18, 2007 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Son Melton officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jim Harrison, Chris Harrison, Glendon Harrison, Travis Harrison, Dustin Harrison, Michael Harrison and John Phillips.
Family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday evening at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Myrtle Genell Jackson
ATMORE – Mrs. Myrtle Genell Jackson of Atmore died Thursday Dec. 20, 2007 in Atmore. She was a homemaker, born in Lottie to the late William Levi "Bill" and Daisy Solomon Hayes.
Her husband, Admiral Dewey Jackson; two brothers, James Riley Hayles and Levi "Bud" Hayles and three nephews, Cecil Hayles, Wayne Hayles and Wilton Ray Hayles, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include, one nephew, Calvin Hayles (Earlene) of Lottie; Ila Mae Kendrick of Robertsdale; Eunice McNeil and husband Gerald of Semmes; Louise Caraway and husband Henderson of McCullough; Eloise Steele and husband Bennie of McCullough; a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Interment will follow in Lottie Methodist cemetery.
Family received friends from noon until service time at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
John Edward Jeter
ATMORE- Mr. John Edward Jeter, 57, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007.
Mr. Jeter was a native of Atmore and a resident of Uriah for the past 35 years and attended the Baptist Church. His father, Joe Jeter; a brother Danny Jeter and his stepfather, Willard Cumbie, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include, wife, Tracy Jeter and son Noah Jeter; three sons, John Edwin "Bubba" Jeter Jr. of Uriah, James Edwin Morris of Nokomis and Mickey D. Hamilton of Atmore; two daughters, Jenelle Lynn Jeter of Flomaton and Samantha Jane Jeter of Huxford; 18 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Earl Jeter of Atmore and four sisters, Sherry Buckhault of Little Rock, Cheryl Matthews of Repton, Marilyn Peavy of Uriah and Patsy Taylor of Excel.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles McGhee and the Rev. Mark Whittington officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lindsey cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Quinton Peavy, Larry Peavy, Todd Jeter, Blaine Jeter, Bubba Jeter and Wesley Tuberville.
Honorary pallbearer was James Morris.
Charles Joe Louis Nelson
ATMORE – Mr. Charles Joe Louis Nelson, 65, of Atmore died Monday, Dec 17, 2007 at Atmore Community Hospital. He had attended school at Escambia County Training School in Atmore.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories his five daughters, Arlene Hall, Mary Alice Nelson, Margaret Nelson, Shennell Nelson and Marie Nelson all of Atmore; three sisters, Alice Bryant and Laura Nelson, both of Atmore and Elea (Andrew) McCleese of Salisbury, MD; three brothers, Curtis (Irene) Nelson, Eddie Lee (Barbara) Nelson and Willie Earl Nelson all of Jersey City, NJ and five grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 22, 2007 at Turner Funeral Chapel with Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating and Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directing.
