Do-si-dos, thin mints and tagalongs are just a few of the many delicious cookies area Girl Scouts will be selling Jan. 11-27.
Troop No. 8417 leader Suzanne Barnett said her Girl Scouts troop is thrilled to begin walking business-to-business and asking individuals if they'd like to buy a box of cookies.
"That's always a big time and we're excited about the new cookies," Barnett said. "We have two new ones, Sugar Free Chocolate Chips and Lemon Chalet Cremes."
Barnett said there are a few different Girl Scout troops in the area that will be selling cookies.
"Currently we have four troops and there is a fifth one that is trying to get up and running," she said.
Barnett said the money raised from cookie sales will go to different things, based on the troop.
"Each troop sets their own goal on how many cookies they want to sell and what they want to do with the money," she said. "All the troops will use the money for service projects in the community and most troops also do fun activities."
The Girl Scouts will sell throughout their neighborhoods and the community and also to their families and friends.
When a Girl Scout marches into your place of employment or knocks on your front door, do not be surprised if they ask you to purchase an extra box of cookies. But, that extra box goes to a good cause.
The money you spent on that extra box of cookies will help with the "Gift of Caring" packages. The packages will be taken by the Girl Scouts to individuals in the community that may not be able to purchase them on their own.
Pre-orders for cookies will be Jan. 11-27. Cookie delivery will be Feb. 12-16. Booth sales will be Feb. 17-March 16. The booth sales consists of Girl Scouts selling cookies in front of grocery stores and retail stores around the area. The dates, times and locations are to be announced.
All cookies are $3.50 a box and include the new Lemon Chalet Cremes and Sugar Free Chocolate Chips, Trefoils, Do-si-dos, Samoas, All Abouts, Tagalongs, thin mints and more.
