Billy Glenn Blackburn
ATMORE- Mr. Billy Glenn Blackburn, 48, of Atmore died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 at his residence. He was a Truck Driver for P &M Sand and Gravel, born on June 8, 1959 to the late Howard Mason and Betty Stacey Blackburn in Escambia County, Alabama.
Survivors include, two special nephews, Brandon Blackburn and Corey Blackburn of Atmore; two brothers, Larry Blackburn of Tuscaloosa and Donnie Blackburn of Little River; three sisters, Jean Allred of Equality, Brenda Sanders of Pensacola, Fla. and Linda Ward of Atmore and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 in Oak Hill cemetery with Bro. Floyd Harris officiating.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc was in charge of all arrangements.
Pinkie Lawson
ATMORE – Mrs. Pinkie Lawson, 63, of Atmore died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at a Pensacola, Fla. hospital.
Public viewing will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 at Christian Memorial Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008 at Holy community Center. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Pellar Henry Plant
BRATT Fla. – Mr. Pellar Henry Plant, 89, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at a local hospital.
Mr. Plant was a native of Robinsonville, a resident of Bratt, Fla. for most of his life, a retired diesel mechanic for the Escambia County Florida Road Department after many years, a Veteran of WWII, a farmer, an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended the Davisville Community Church. His wife Beatrice "Bea" Plant preceded him in death.
Survivors include, two sons, Pete and Kim Plant of Bratt, Fla. and Michael and Wanda Plant of Atmore; two daughters, Lois and Leon Chavers of Davisville, Fla. and Lou Edna and Donnie Bass of Bratt, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and a sister, Ruth Norris of Bratt, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Nora Jacobs, the Rev. Ronald Hall and the Rev. John Chavers officiating. Burial will follow at Godwin cemetery.
Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2008 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Joseph Bass, Jeremy Bass, John Chavers, Eric Plant, Dan Smith and Bobby Amerson.
Honorary pallbearers were R.J. Amerson, Raymond Norris and Marshall Hanks.
Shirley D. Davidson
URIAH – Ms. Shirley D. Davidson, 59, of Uriah died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at her residence. She was a member of Bethel Rock AME Church in Uriah and had attended school at Union High in Monroeville and she was a homemaker.
Her parents, David Brooks Sr. and Willie Mae Brooks; her sister, Dorothy Brooks and her brother Clifton Brooks, all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, four sisters, Donnie (Harvey) Evans of Uriah, Caroline (James) Carpenter of Detroit, Mich., Donnell Brooks of Atmore and Laura Bass of Pensacola, Fla.; five brothers, David Brooks Jr., Robert (Ruby Nell) White and Jeffery Brooks, all of Atmore, Willard (Lois) Banks of Myrtle S.C. and Sam Lett of Uriah.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Uriah with the Rev. Willie J. Denson officiating. Public viewing was held from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2008 at the Chapel. Interment followed in the Uriah Community Center cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore directing.
Margaret E. Simmons Pace
CENTURY, Fla. – Mrs. Margaret E. Simmons Pace, 71, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 in Century, Fla.
Mrs. Pace was a native of Milton, Fla., a resident of Century, Fla. for the past 30 years, she received her high school diploma at age 45, was an avid softball player and attended the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church. Her husband, William Pace Jr.; two brothers, Doug Simmons and Ervin E. Simmons; a sister, Medrie Harvell; two granddaughters, Brittany Pace and Chastity Stephens; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Stephens and a half sister, Mary Simmons, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include, three sons, Steven (Denise) Pace and Bryant W. Pace, both of Century, Fla. and Elbert L. "Beau" Pace of Molino, Fla.; one daughter, Audrey E. (Roy) Fawley of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Paul A. Simmons, Andre W. Simmons and James Simmons, all of Pace, Fla. and one sister, Katrina Green of Pensacola, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Dewenger officiating. Burial followed at Hollingsworth cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Steven W. Pace, Chris Pace, Keith Davis, Shelbert "Bo" Edwards, Rannon Pace and Ronnie Holt.
John "Shorty" Stewart
PERDIDO – Mr. John "Shorty" Stewart, 73, of Perdido died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at a local hospital. Mr. Stewart retired after 25 years with Standard Furniture in Bay Minette. His parents, John B. and Polly Shrock Stewart and one brother, Andy Stewart, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his wife of eight years, Mary Alice Odom; four sons, Charles Stewart of Mt. Vernon, William Benjamin Stewart of Perdido, Robert Ray Stewart of Perdido and Freddie Houston Stewart of Perdido; one daughter, Ruby Mae Davis of Perdido; two step sons, James Roy Odom of Fairhope and Eugene Edward Odom of Pensacola Fla.; one brother, Woodrow Benjamin Stewart of Perdido; one sister, Fannie Hall of Perdido; 23 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan 19, 2008 at the Fretwell Tabernacle with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Mr. Stewart lay instate at the Church from Friday Jan. 18, 2008 from 4 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service time on Saturday. Burial followed at the New Home cemetery in Lottie.
Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Henry Lee Murkey
ATMORE – Mr. Henry Lee Murkey, 73, of Atmore died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
