Everyone remembers during the 80s and 90s when Ed McMahon showcased many young stars who eventually hit it big in his TV show “Star Search.”
Some of those young stars include Beyonce Knowles, LeAnn Rimes, Drew Carey and Justin Timberlake.
Now area residents have the chance to show what they are made of and possibly become the next pop or country artist with PCI Gaming’s Sound Star Search 2008 competition.
The Star Search order of performance includes
Sawyer said the grand prize winner will walk away with $5,000 and will possibly have the opportunity to sign a contract to perform at the Sound.
Each week one contestant is eliminated from the competition. Chuck Stevens is the Master of Ceremonies, welcoming the guests and introducing judges Brent Pinkston, Catherine Timmons, Randall Adams, Emilie Mims and a member of the PCI Gaming Board. When the first round starts, each contestant sings one song. After an intermission, the contestants sing a second song.
After each contestant has performed twice, the scores are added up. Each performer then comes on stage and the eliminated competitor is announced. Those remaining will perform the following week until the winner is announced on March 1.
The competition is held at the Creek Casino on the new Sound Stage.
