Lorenzo Jones was looking towards the future, and it cost him a win Thursday night against Central High School.
Jones' Northview Lady Chiefs lost 38-34 following a 21-point fourth quarter surge by Central.
"The girls played really hard in that game," Jones said. "We were leading until two minutes left in the game, but this loss can be contributed to my poor judgement. In an effort to help build for the future, I played more younger players than I needed to."
The Lady Chiefs jumped on top of Central 11-3 in the first quarter and held a 19-11 lead at halftime. That lead increased to 26-17 following a 7-6 advantage in the third quarter.
But the fourth quarter was the worst quarter for the Lady Chiefs, as they were outscored 21-8 in the period.
Junior Timeka Marshall led the Lady Chiefs with 16 points, nine steals and three rebounds.
"Timeka had a great game," Jones said.
Junior Gabe Wesley added 9 points, six rebounds and five steals. Junior Melissa Garrett had 4 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Junior Brittney Thompson contributed 3 points, six steals and four rebounds.
Sophomore Angela Rodriguez had 2 points and one steal. Junior Shelbi Wiggins added three rebounds and two steals.
Next up for the Lady Chiefs is a game against T.R. Miller tomorrow beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The final district game of the season for the Lady Chiefs was exactly like the rest of the district games this year. It was a loss.
"We couldn't make a basket to save our lives," Jones said. "But we played good defense and all my girls hustled out there."
NHS trailed 11-4 after the first quarter and 22-6 at halftime, but the team rallied in the second half and outscored the Lady Seahawks 14-10 in the second half.
Wesley had 7 points, four steals and two rebounds. Marshall added 6 points, two assists and two steals. Garrett contributed 4 points and eight rebounds. Shaniqua Jones had 3 points.
Wiggins had 10 rebounds, Megan Ryan added three rebounds and Kassandra Lett added one rebound.
