Canoe Baptist revival ends Wednesday
William Blackburn, a homegrown Atmore native and national evangelist, presently residing in Fort Smith, Ark., will be the guest speaker. Gospel music will be furnished nightly by many local groups and is coordinated by Billy Peacock from Pensacola Fla. The revival is from Feb. 10-13 at Canoe Baptist Church at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday. There will be a covered dish luncheon on Feb. 10.

County Commission to meet tomorrow
Please take notice that the Escambia County Commission will conduct a regular session on Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers Room 201, at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton.
Monthly support group meets Feb. 13
Do you or someone you know have lupus? Join for a lupus support group meeting on the second Wednesday of every month at D.W. McMillian Memorial Hospital at 11 a.m.
There is no fee to attend the meeting but the knowledge you will receive is priceless.
These support groups are sponsored and conducted by Lupus Support Network. The network provides education, support and assistance to those affected by Lupus.
Printed materials are available at the meetings on lupus and other autoimmune diseases including Fibromyalgia, Scheroderma, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjogrens Syndrome just to name a few. Currently, Lupus Support Network has over 50 brochures on the various aspects of the disease. All are offered free of charge.

Local Head Start to host CAA seminar
The Community Action Agency of Baldwin, Escambia, Clarke, Monroe and Conecuh counties is holding an Individual Development Account seminar on Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. at Freemanville Head Start center.
The seminar will give information to participants on how they can save as little as $25 a month for a down payment on a home, to start a small business, or go back to school through an IDA account. In doing so, Community Action Agency will match their savings up to $2,000.

Grant applications due Feb. 29
Each year Atmore's Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International makes available a $150 grant-in-aid to a deserving female graduating high school who plans to enter the teaching profession, or a female college student currently enrolled in a college’s school of education.
Interested applicants are asked to submit an essay titled "Why I Want to Go Into the Education Field" along with their name, parent's name, address and phone number to:

NWE Little League holds registration
Northwest Escambia Little League baseball and softball and N.W.E. Little League baseball and softball registration will be held Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. until noon. Please bring a copy of child’s birth certificate to registration.

Young Life hosts annual banquet
A special invitation is extended to the community who have already purchased their tickets to attend the Atmore Young Life Fund Raising Banquet on Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Atmore Community Center (YMCA). A catered dinner will be provided at no cost.
Atmore T-Ball League holds registration
The Atmore T-Ball League will hold registration from until March 1 at the Atmore Area YMCA &Community Center. Registration will be held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon. Cost for each child ages 5-7 is $30.
Walnut Hill softball clinic slated March 1
Girls ages 12 and under Softball Pitching Clinic will be held at NWE Ballpark in Walnut Hill, Fla. March 1 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Pre-register Feb. 9, 16 and 23 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. or March 1 from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. at the park. The cost will be $20 per person due on the day of registration.

Basketball camp forms now accepted
Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp is by invitation only. Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply.
Past participants include, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison.
Players from 50 states and 10 foreign countries attended the 2007 camp. College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American Team.
Camp locations include, Gainesville, Ga., Prescott, Ariz., Thousand Oaks, Calif., Babson Park, Fla., Champaign, Ill., Glassboro, N.J., Lebanon, Tenn., Commerce, Texas and Blacksburg, Va.
There is also a summer camp available for boys and girls ages 6-18 of all skill levels.

Friday Night Dances at the VFW, cost $5
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW’s Freedom Band. If you like good, clean, safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 W. Ashley Street is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Continuing Education Classes at JDCC
Continuing Education Classes in Upholstery Basics are being offered at Jefferson Davis Community College.
Skills of identifying and using basic upholstery tools and operating an upholstery sewing machine are available.
The start date is Feb. 19 and the end date is March 11. Times are Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Atmore JDCC campus.
