Flu strikes in Escambia county
It's that time of year again – cold and flu season. And like many counties across the state, Escambia County has been hit by the flu. While the disease isn't creating an epidemic, it is spreading among co-workers, students and families.
It's not too late to get a flu shot, although for the best protection you should have had one weeks ago.
But there are also a number of other precautions people can take if they want to stay away from the disease.
Here's what the Centers for Disease Control recommends:
Thankfully, Alabama and the rest of the nation has not yet seen an outbreak of devastating flu, although health professionals have been training for an epidemic for years. But we'll all get through this cold and flu season healthy if we follow a few simple rules.
