Pritchett appointed mayor pro-tem

The Atmore City Council has undergone many changes in the past month since the death of councilman John Watkins.
During the Jan. 28 meeting, former councilman Eldred Pritchett was sworn into office to complete Watkins’ term.
Monday night, the elected officials unanimously agreed in the appointment of the councilman who will fill Watkins’ role as mayor pro-tem.
Shell addressed the council asking for any recommendations.
Veteran councilman John Garrard quickly agreed.
The appointment was followed by an uncommon third by councilman Jim Staff and fourth by councilman Webb Nall. Shell added a fifth with a chuckle to make it “unanimous.”
