Elmore Earnest Cruit
MOBILE - Mr. Elmore Earnest Cruit, 93, of Mobile died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 at his residence. A native of Escambia County, Mr. Cruit was a longtime resident of Metairie and Kenner, La. He retired from TACA International Airlines after 41 years of service. He was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Kenner. Mr. Cruit was a graduate of Livingston State Teachers College and was an educator prior to serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was a lifetime member of Shriners of North America.
His parents, Earnest and Ruby Merriwether Cruit; his wife, Louise Meador Cruit and a brother, Paul Cruit, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his son, Elmore E. Cruit Jr., of Mobile; a brother, Dr. Robert L. Cruit of Gadsden; sisters, Helen Cruit and Georgene Cruit Beasley of Mobile and Annie Brooks Cruit Allen of Pensacola, Fla.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dorsey McDonald officiating. Interment followed in Enon Baptist cemetery in Enon. Family received friends Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until service time.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc was in charge of all arrangements.
Louie E. Hardy
ATMORE - Mr. Louie E. Hardy, 82, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 in Atmore.
Mr. Hardy was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore, a member of Carney Masonic Lodge #549, the VFW, the American Legion and a veteran of WWII. He was owner and operator of Hardy and Kearley Garage for 35 years and attended Judson Baptist Church. His parents, Joe and Hattie Hardy; a sister, Lucille Zerinque and a brother, Lamar Hardy, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Hardy of Atmore; four daughters, Katheryn and Earl Jeter of Atmore, Judy and Dale Clements of Millry, Pat and Johnny Moore of Cantonment, Fla. and Margie and Ken Harper of Atmore; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Leslie Hardy and Pete Hardy of Atmore and six sisters, Tishi Phillips of Little River, Lois Hall, Betty Singleton and Sarah Coon of Atmore, Linda Garrick of Greensboro, N.C. and Barbara Hardy of Atmore.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 17, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Wilson and the Rev. Chris Pruitt officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill cemetery.
Visitation was held between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were, Kelly Drew, Steve Drew, Danny Hall, Michael Hall, Billy Hardy and Joe Hardy.
Honorary pallbearers were, Ronnie Johnson, David Smith, Eddie Lowery, Wayne Fayard, Benney Thompson, Larry Wooten, Joe Frank Wooten and Danny Gorum.
Contributions can be made to Covenant Hospice.
Bobby Ray Jenkins
ATMORE - Mr. Bobby Ray Jenkins, 44, of Atmore died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 at his residence. He was a self-employed laborer. He had attended school at Escambia County High School. He was a member of the Jones Street Holiness Church.
Two sisters, Mary Davis and Emma Moore preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his mother, Emma Lou Jenkins of Atmore; Harold (Annie) Brazzell, Sr. of Atmore; six sisters, Barbara Washington and Dianne Jenkins of Atmore, Shirley Jenkins of Gary, Ind., Patricia Brazzell, Mary Brazzell and Felecia Brazzell of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers, Harold Brazzell Jr., Larry Brazzell and Lorendo Brazzell, all of Cleveland, Ohio.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at the Jones Street Holiness Church with Elder Kevin Brown officiating and Bishop Willie L. Williams, Pastor. Inhumation followed in Fairview cemetery. Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore was in charge of directing the services.
Deborah Daniels Mathieu
FRISCO CITY - Deborah Daniels Mathieu, 52, of Frisco City died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 in Escambia County. She was a homemaker, born in Valdosta, Ga. Lowndes County on Feb. 6, 1956 to Murray Alvin and Dorothy Crawford Daniels. She had attended Mexia United Methodist Church.
Her mother; a daughter, Sarah Naomi McCurdy and a son, Seth Peigh McCurdy, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, her husband, Fredrick Mathieu and a son Fredrick Kalem Mathieu of Mexia; her father, Murray Daniels of Bay Minette; a brother, Richard Daniels (Rhonda) of Bay Minette.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at Johnson-Qiumby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Daniels officiating. Interment followed in McCullough cemetery.
Pallbearers were, Matthew Daniels, Timothy Daniels, Scott Robinson, Lenzy Williams, John Johnson and Dion Wasdin.
Family received friends Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until service time.

Randy Allen Slay
MOBILE - Randy Allen Slay, 55, a native of Texas and a resident of Mobile died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008 at his residence.
Survivors include, his mother, Audrey Faye Blair of Atmore and one aunt, Delores Jean Babula of Flomaton. Private services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements will be handled by Gilmer’s Funeral Home.
