Commission to meet March 10 in Brewton
Please take notice that the Escambia County Commission will conduct a regular session on March 10 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, Room 201, at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton.
Ingram hosts oil painting classes
Margie Ingram will be hosting oil painting classes on March 10, 17 and 24. The classes will be held at Vikki Day’s Gallery 106 W. Ridgeley St. in Atmore from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The cost of the classes is $70 and that will include supplies for all three days.
Joyriders to hold potluck lunch
The Joyriders will meet March 12 at noon at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
The Joyriders is an community group of senior adults who join for a potluck lunch once a month.

Friendship luncheon to be held March 13
The McCullough Friendship Luncheon will be held March 13 at David’s Catfish House at 11 a.m.
Education retirees to meet March 13
The regular meeting of the Escambia County Education Retirees will be held March 13 at the W.S. Neal High School library in East Brewton at 11 a.m. The guest speaker for this meeting will be John Paul Jones, AERA District 8 Director. All education retirees on any academic level and all persons interested in public education are invited to attend this meeting.
Rachel Patterson to hold registration
Rachel Patterson Elementary School will hold Kindergarten registration March 14 and March 28, starting at 8 a.m.
Parents are urged to come and register their children entering kindergarten this fall. Parents are asked to bring their child's birth certificate, social security card and blue shot record when registering their child.
Temple Christian holding registration
Temple Christian Academy is now accepting enrollment in 4-year-old Kindergarten through 12th grade for the 2008-09 school year.
Enrollment for each class will remain open until that class fills; however, registration for each class will be on a first come, first serve basis. Students enrolling for 4-year-old Kindergarten through first grade must be appropriate age to enter that grade by Sept. 1 to be admitted to that class.
If you have a child you are interested enrolling at Temple Christian Academy, you may contact the school at 368-8282, or you may drop by the school, which is located at 1707 S. Main St., across from David’s Catfish House in the building adjacent to the Atmore Baptist Temple.
AIDS meeting March 14 in Monroe County
The Southwest Alabama AIDS Prevention Coalition will meet from 11 – noon on March 14 in the Monroe County Health Department. The public is invited to attend.

United Bank to host softball tourney
A co-ed softball tournament sponsored by the United Bank Relay for Life Team will be held at 8 a.m. March 15 at Tom Byrne Park. Age limit is 16 and up. There will be a grand prize of $200 and door prizes will be given away. Entry Deadline is at noon March 7.

Church celebrates 97th anniversary
The Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church 97th church anniversary will be held March 16 at 2:30 p.m. with pastor Willie F. Osby and guest minister, Sidney Grant of New Order Church.
Faith Tabernacle Church holds revival
On March 12 and 14, Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church will host a three-day revival, everyone is invited to be revived.

First Presbyterian Church of Atmore will have the following holy week services: Palm Sunday Worship Service, March 16 at 10:30 a.m., Maundy Thursday Communion Worship Service, March 20 at 6 p.m., Sunrise Outdoor Easter Worship Service, March 23 at 7 a.m. and Easter Sunday Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Trinity Episcopal Church Holy Week services will be as follows: Palm Sunday Holy Eucharist, March 16, 11 a.m.; Maundy Thursday Holy Eucharist, March 20, 6 p.m., Good Friday Holy Eucharist and Stations of the Cross, 6 p.m. and Easter Sunday, March 23, Holy Eucharist, 11 a.m. with pot luck lunch in the Parish Hall at noon.

Historical Society to meet March 17
The Atmore Historical Society will meet March 17 at 6 p.m. in the Peavy-Webb Building at Heritage Park. The speaker will be Ben Cooper, retired Atmore merchant and a member of the Army field artillery during World War II. He will speak about his experiences during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Cooper remained in Europe to help relocate Germans back to their home towns. Edie Martin will be on hand to read some of the German newspapers that Cooper brought home after the war.
Bay Springs church hosts fourth singing
Bay Springs Full Gospel Church will host their fourth Saturday night singing March 22 at 6 p.m. Local singers, Bro. Andy Lollie and the congregation welcome everyone to attend.
Church hosts Youth Day, revival services
Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church invites you to come and worship in our Youth Day and Revival Services. Youth Day will be April 6 at 3 p.m. the speaker will be the Rev. Charles Jones from First Baptist Church of McCullough and Mt. Rose Baptist in Atmore and Perdue Hill. Revival will be April 7-11 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Evangelist: Rev. Dion Culliver of New Pilgrim Baptist in River Falls.
New Life Fellowship hosts April revival
New Life Fellowship Assembly of God in Walnut Hill, Fla. will be holding revival April 13-18. Revival begins at 5 p.m. on April 13 and 7 p.m. every other night.
Bro. David Tolbert will be the guest speaker.
Everyone is welcome to join the congregation and worship.
Relay for Life slated for April 26 at ECHS
Atmore’s Relay for Life will be held April 26. The theme for this year’s event is “cancer has no borders.” Each team has chosen a country that also has Relay for Life and will incorporate that country into decorations and food.
The event will be held at Escambia County High School.

First Assembly hosts health, wellness fair
There will be a free Women's Health &Wellness Fair at Atmore First Assembly on May 10 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Uriah hosts art, antique show
The city of Uriah is holding an art and antique show in Uriah on June 7. It will be the inaugural Southwest Alabama Antique and Art Fair to benefit the Uriah Area Development Association.
There is a $20 charge for space and each participant must donate one item for an auction. The proceeds will go for building a memorial for service men and women who gave their lives in WWII.
