FPC to host Holy Week services
First Presbyterian Church of Atmore will have the following holy week services: Palm Sunday Worship Service, March 16 at 10:30 a.m., Maundy Thursday Communion Worship Service, March 20 at 6 p.m., Sunrise Outdoor Easter Worship Service, March 23 at 7 a.m. and Easter Sunday Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Trinity holds special Holy Week services
Trinity Episcopal Church Holy Week services will be as follows: Palm Sunday Holy Eucharist, March 16, 11 a.m.; Maundy Thursday Holy Eucharist, March 20, 6 p.m., Good Friday Holy Eucharist and Stations of the Cross, 6 p.m. and Easter Sunday, March 23, Holy Eucharist, 11 a.m. with pot luck lunch in the Parish Hall at noon.

Ingram hosts oil painting classes
Margie Ingram will be hosting oil painting classes on March 17 and 24. The classes will be held at Vikki Day’s Gallery 106 W. Ridgeley St. in Atmore from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The cost of the classes is $70 and that will include supplies for all three days.
Boston Butts for sale at VFW March 21
A limited number of John Swift’s Famous Charcoal Cooked Boston Butts for $25 will be available for pickup at the VFW Post the morning of March 21.

Bay Springs church hosts fourth singing
Bay Springs Full Gospel Church will host their fourth Saturday night singing March 22 at 6 p.m. Local singers, Bro. Andy Lollie and the congregation welcome everyone to attend.
Commission to meet March 24
Please take notice that the Escambia County Commission will conduct an adjourned regular session on March 24 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, Room 201, at the Escambia County Courthouse, Brewton. The Administrative Workshop will be held March 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Friendly Holiness Church hosts singing
Friendly Holiness Church will host a fourth Saturday singing March 22 at 7 p.m. featuring Soldiers of the Cross. The church is located at 3266 Atmosphere Road and the pastor is the Rev. Ray Ward

A NWE Football meeting will be held at Ernest Ward Middle School at 7 p.m. on March 24. Coaches, potential coaches and members please attend.
Hospital to host book fair on March 27
A Book Fair will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. March 27 in the auditorium at Atmore Community Hospital. Discover, MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, checks and cash accepted. Checks may be post dated till April 18. The book fair is sponsored by the ACH Auxiliary.
Rachel Patterson to hold registration
Rachel Patterson Elementary School will hold Kindergarten registration March 28, starting at 8 a.m.
Parents are urged to come and register their children entering kindergarten this fall. Parents are asked to bring their child's birth certificate, social security card and blue shot record when registering their child.
Temple Christian holding registration
Temple Christian Academy is now accepting enrollment in 4-year-old Kindergarten through 12th grade for the 2008-09 school year.
Enrollment for each class will remain open until that class fills; however, registration for each class will be on a first come, first serve basis. Students enrolling for 4-year-old Kindergarten through first grade must be appropriate age to enter that grade by Sept. 1 to be admitted to that class.
If you have a child you are interested enrolling at Temple Christian Academy, you may contact the school at 368-8282, or you may drop by the school, which is located at 1707 S. Main St., across from David’s Catfish House in the building adjacent to the Atmore Baptist Temple.
ECHS class planning 20 year reunion

Canoe Methodist church to host event
Canoe UMC will have a yard sale, bake sale and barbeque March 29 from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. They will also be selling baked goods, boston butts and smoked chickens. All meat orders must be turned in by March 24.
Call 368-8734 or 368-8754 to place an order or for more information. Boston butts will be $20 and whole chickens will be $12. Orders for homemade pound cakes will also be taken, for $18 each. Also, they will have a drop box for any used cell phones. Chargers are not necessary. All proceeds from these efforts will go to our building fund.
Turkey federation starting in Atmore
National Wild Turkey Federation is starting a chapter in Atmore. The first annual meeting/banquet will be held April 4 at the Atmore Country Club starting at 6:30 p.m. There will be a raffle, silent auction and door prizes.

Wawbeek VFD yard sale April 5
The Wawbeek Volunteer Fire Department will be having a yard sale from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. April 5 at the Wawbeek Fire House, located at 392 Sardis Church Road. All proceeds raised will be used to buy Jaws-of-Life equipment. All donations are appreciated.
Martinville Baptist homecoming April 6
Homecoming services will be held April 6 at Martinville Baptist Church located eight miles north of Atmore, just off Hwy. 21. Take Martinville Circle or Martinville Loop for about 1/8 mile and see the church on the right. Bro. Keith Langham will bring message with dinner immediately following on the grounds and afternoon singing by the Gloryland Singers and friends.

Church hosts Youth Day, revival services
Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church invites you to come and worship in our Youth Day and Revival Services. Youth Day will be April 6 at 3 p.m. the speaker will be the Rev. Charles Jones from First Baptist Church of McCullough and Mt. Rose Baptist in Atmore and Perdue Hill. Revival will be April 7-11 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Evangelist: Rev. Dion Culliver of New Pilgrim Baptist in River Falls.
New Life Fellowship hosts April revival
New Life Fellowship Assembly of God in Walnut Hill, Fla. will be holding revival April 13-18. Revival begins at 5 p.m. on April 13 and 7 p.m. every other night. Bro. David Tolbert will be the guest speaker.
Everyone is welcome to join the congregation and worship.

Poarch to host career day on April 8
The Poarch Band of Creek Indians Education Department is extending an invitation to the community to attend a College Fair &Career Day scheduled for April 8 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Family Services Auditorium.
Local community colleges, vocational colleges and local four-year colleges and universities will be on hand to talk with anyone who is considering taking classes online, weekend classes, night classes and regular daytime classes. The Tribe is also requesting the attendance of representatives from graduate programs that award master’s degrees, as well as, other types of graduate degrees.
Southern Company is sending a representative to provide information about careers with Southern Company and job opportunities that are currently available.
Tribal Enterprises and non-tribal businesses are invited to attend and represent their organization to inform the public about the job opportunities with their businesses.

Sawmill Pageant slated for April 12

Zion Star Church hosts special service

Relay for Life slated for April 26 at ECHS
Atmore’s Relay for Life will be held April 26. The theme for this year’s event is “cancer has no borders.” Each team has chosen a country that also has Relay for Life and will incorporate that country into decorations and food.
The event will be held at Escambia County High School.
First Assembly hosts health, wellness fair
There will be a free Women's Health &Wellness Fair at Atmore First Assembly on May 10 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Trinity Episcopal Church hosts fun day
Trinity Episcopal Church will be holding a fun-filled day of events, including an antique appraisal, silent auction and a boxed lunch sale on May 10 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Trinity's extensive Outreach Program. The big day is being conducted with a lot of help from First National Bank and Trust and also Masland Carpets, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians Endowment Committee and Swift's Supply.

Uriah hosts art, antique show
The city of Uriah is holding an art and antique show on June 7. It will be the inaugural Southwest Alabama Antique and Art Fair to benefit the Uriah Area Development Association.
There is a $20 charge for space and each participant must donate one item for an auction. The proceeds will go for building a memorial for service men and women who gave their lives in WWII.

Friday Night Dances at the VFW, cost $5
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW’s Freedom Band. If you like good, clean, safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 W. Ashley St. is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
