Area resident Karen Rice is the newest flower shop owner in Atmore with Lilly’s Exquisite, Elegant and Exotic Floral Designs.
Rice bought Shannon’s The Florist from Carl and Shannon Cooper Friday afternoon and the facility officially became Lilly’s on Monday morning.
The facility will undergo major changes, according to Rice.
Although the building and the name is changing, Rice bought all things floral to go along with the purchase.
The Shannon’s van will also go through changes to make it the Lilly’s van. Rice will have the van painted black and will have pink writing on it.
Rice said she decided to go into the floral industry because she needed a change in pace.
Lilly’s will provide services for all types of occasions, including weddings, retirements, birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, proms and graduation.
Rice said the flower shop will be a family-owned business. Her husband, Dr. Thomas Rice; son, Alex and daughter, Jordayn each have their hands in Lilly’s.
Also still on staff from Shannon’s is Janice Flowers, who worked many years at the former flower shop. Also new in the flower business is investor, partner and designer Janie Bell.
To go along with the family-oriented theme, Lilly’s will run a special for Mother’s Day. The special holiday for mom is May 11 this year and Lilly’s will host a grand opening event May 9-10 that will feature a special spring bouquet for $39.99.
Lilly’s is located at 1327 S. Main St. and is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
