Cougars claw Sparta, 3-2

The Cougars’ offensive production in the first inning proved to be just enough to give Escambia Academy a 3-2 victory over Sparta on April 8.
Mills (2-2) pitched four innings allowing only three hits and two earned runs. He struck out six batters and yielded only three walks.
Brown (2-3) pitched three innings and struck out two.
The Cougars captured the lead early with two runs in the first inning and was able to hold on to the lead for the win with an insurance run in the top of the fourth inning.
Senior Tyler Brown paced Escambia Academy’s offense going 2-for-4 at the plate with two singles, an RBI and one stolen base. Senior Dustin Hall had a good day at the dish going 2-for-3 with two singles, a walk and one stolen base.
Ethan Brooks chipped in with a single, one RBI and a walk and Nate Smith added a single and a stolen base.
