A surprise is in store for Escambia County High School football players when they return to school tomorrow following Spring Break.
Athletic director and head football coach Kyle Davis, his coaching staff and other volunteers worked during the week-long holiday to renovate the school’s aging field house.
The renovation, which is still under way, includes a complete overhaul of the weight room and locker room. A majority of the interior of the facility was painted and the floors in the locker room were painted.
The coaches also worked on tiling the floors in the main coaching office and the two additional offices.
Also included in the makeover are new, custom lockers for the players’ football equipment and new office furniture for the coaching staff.
The Blue Devils’ booster club made the decision to go through with the project earlier this year. In fact, the booster club will be footing the bill.
According to Davis, approximately $10,000 worth of renovations will be made once the project is completed.
It should be a completed project by the time we start summer practice,” Davis said.
